I have this engine and I love it! tunes very easy, holds the tune well throughout the day. I have about 1/2 a gallon currently, no issues.

you're going to have this same power issue with the paloma and even deal with an even tighter engine over the reds.
My advise is get it EBIS broken in by adam drake or someone else.

That makes sense now as to why I was seeing the P5XLT pipe combo going for so cheap! I should have bought the combo back then.

Novarossi have updated their popular P5 engine with the 2019 variant S21P5XLT/19 featuring a 14.5mm crankshaft with silicone filling as well as a 26mm bearing. Other features include a composite 3-needle carburettor, 5-port sleeve as well as the R7 lightweight aluminium conrod. The long stroke engine also sports a new cooling head design and it is available now.

Some drilled holes through the ribs is only saving a view grams, nothing important. To me the looks is less important than the performance, you can always mount an onroad head or something else smaller when it is cold outside but in hot conditions I will choose this head above the small low profile OS heads.

I did machine an OS Head to fit my P5XLT two years ago...

Not sure why this is even a press release???? I love Nova engines, but wish they would concentrate on a race program and not a club race or basher program for off-road. They need to come out with an engine to compete with REDS, OS. I have tried my buddies Mephesto but even it is soft on the bottom. Great Top but that's about it. The Rolling has been my go to engine for awhile, even have had them modded by AMR. However one weekend running a Spec II style OS engine, has me rethinking my whole race engine plan due to the power, easy to drive and power out of the hole hence this game me better results and high consistency. The numbers really don't lie

I don't know, its just a shame that they did not put a little more updating to the Head, They could have used the Head from the Bloody or Loco - Live Range motors. Anodized Purple and re-engraved with the P5XLT logos.

Drilling holes increases surface area, and upwards/cross flow of the cooling head. Its not the weight that is the main benefit of newer drilled out designs in my opinion. The low CG heads Like FX and OS motors have now combine cross drilling with lower larger fins to get the best of both worlds. Hopefully Nova gets on board soon, people are noticing.

Yes, it will mess up the airflow by creating vortexes and will not give a better cooling. But peope are sensitive for the lightweight explenation while that doen't do a noticeable thing. I have seen engines with low placed heads and magnesium heads struggllin in hot weather conditions because they do not cool enough so such a old style head may not be fancy but for sure it works.
