Kyle mcbride was using the big silver karma head(it has 10 fins instead or 8 or 9 like most novas) in hot weather. I wish a few of the other novas came with that style head as its just a little taller than the lowpro nova heads as its flatter ontop and doesnt have the slight cone shape of the top fins.
Nova put the lowpro head on the p5 black edition that came with a pipe for under 200.
is the new motor using a new headbutton as the manual sheet for it says its running .80 worth or shins? Seems like allot

On the paloma motor I am running 7mm insert. Can I completely remove the insert and run without it? Any benefits?

Depends the whole bore of the carburator. If that is also 7mm then there will be no gain.

Yeah I did it, because I loved the look of my Old Speed Motors, and did not like the Cooling tower look of the P5XLT. As such less to cut out of the body, and still tall enough to get good airflow.

If you're chasing every last gram on the car, it's a cheap fix, and it is at the highest point of the car.
I know I've measured before and after, but can't find any notes on it now.
I do believe it ran slightly cooler as well, but my memory fails to remember any specific numbers.

This 2019 version of the P5XLT carburetor is the same as the MEPHISTO OFF. And that's good
I think a cooling head type rolling engine would be better, but I'm not an engineer.
Crankshaft 14.5mm I think that is what now all the newer NOVAROSSI engines.
I think these new developments have given better fuel consumption compared to previous editions of P5XLT.

The whole bore is close to 12mm.

You think? Measure again!
I know the onroad carburators have a 9mm hole on the slide so a 9mm insert or no insert does not make a difference

Weird, you did meassure on the end? There the bore is wider but if it is almost 12mm at te slide as well then yes, there is room to use an onroad ventury or none.

So I made the hole on one of the carb inserts to 9mm. I ran the car and it had no low end.

I took another insert and made it to 7.5mm. let me tell you this motor is amazing. I have about 13 tanks through it and started tuning it. Constantly at 220-230 in the parking lot doing high speed runs and never goes above it. The motor is an animal. For $170 you cant beat it.

The Rolling has been my go to engine for awhile, even have had them modded by AMR. However one weekend running a Spec II style OS engine, has me rethinking my whole race engine plan due to the power, easy to drive and power out of the hole hence this game me better results and high consistency. The numbers really don't lie

Hi!

I have also tested the Spec !! engine and did not like it at all. It is a lightswitch. No good for me.
What pipe and manifold/pipe is your friend using on the Mephisto? All long curved (180 degree manifolds) makes engines very smooth on the bottom end. If it is very slippery, i go to 41021 manifold-but i very rarly use it any more. Test the Mephisto with 41001 or 41005 manifolds and it will kick the engine alive. On my Mantra i used 41005/2096 and it was just a tick down on the B2101 at max rpm in noise, but i had the same speed.

I too love Nova engines and have imported and sold them here in Norway. I belive the Mephisto is a great engnie, just have to find the right pipe/manifold combo.

Has anyone measured the Mephisto crank? Curious if it's different from Mantra.
