Speed Passion Thread

I'm looking for a motor/esc set up in my B44.2 and I'd like to stick with Speed Passion. I'm looking at the Reventon Pro 1.1 or 1.1EX. Are there any benefits one has over the other? What motor would be suggested? Most guys at the local track run 6.5 but I'm new to 4wd buggy and usually run 17.5 blinky in 2wd. Just looking for some good input. I'd usually look this up myself on the Speed Passion website but it doesn't seem to be loading for me at work.

Hi guys/gals
Im having a braking problem with my SP reventon R. They are very very soft. Take a long time to stop. Im stumped here because ive read on here how good people like the brakes on these escs. Ive updated to the latest firmware and still have the same problem. Is there something im missing here? I can hold truck in hand, press brake and it just seems to take a long time to get it to stop? Im a bit confused, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

After 2 months of use, the Reventon Pro smoked and injured only my deans connector! Didn't know the reason, i never had bash it, only asphalt speed runs...no jumps either!
Yesterday after 3months i bashed her for 1 minute softly and suddendly she stop... i thought, allright the baterys are over... they were in storage mode for 1month!
Grab the car in my hand and noticed smoked come from the shell... hurry up and disconnected the lipos!
It was the ESC that smoked. Then i opened it and i guess it started on the fets and melted all around including case plastic....
Got myself now on the market for a solid company then!
For not even an year and maybe 10 runs times...
Never go back to this brand.... which i thought it was good from racers and so on...crap!
For not even an year and maybe 10 runs times... China is degrading the world! Things should last 10years not 10days!

I would use the EX because the color BLACK is actually FASTER...
It is actually the same between the 2 except EX can run on 1 cell...but EX does not come with LCD programmer card just to save some cost and most ppl that use EX already has the 1.1 or 1.0 before so they have the LCD programmer already.

I'd say start at 60% and go from there. Too much brake leads to easy spins because they are generally so powerful it causes the wheels to break traction. If you feel you have excellent control you can up it to as high as you prefer.

Have you gone in and adjusted the braking percentage? I have an R in my son's RB5 and it also coasted a bit but it was due to them being set to 15% (if memory serves me) which is not much. You'll need to use a program card to make changes though so look into that and see if it doesn't provide all the braking you desire.

1. Either something was shorting out OR the crappy Dean's Connector caused the short.
2. Since the car had smoked last time you ran it YOU should have taken precautions and checked to see what was causing the short and fixed it BEFORE choosing to run it again. The fact that it ran for a minute means the ESC was still functioning perfectly fine which is indicative that the ESC itself was perfectly fine.
3. Did you register your product with SP? If so you'd have an excellent warranty and they'd take care of the issue for you.
I bought 2 Reventon Pro ESC's and one worked perfectly fine and the other had a glitch in it and it would only kick in if you banged the car, thereby prompting whatever was loose inside or finicky to make contact and transfer power to the motor. I contacted them and they sent me an RMA to send the ESC in and they simply sent me a brand new one, no questions asked.
Go HERE to register your Speed Passion Products.
Simply create a user name and password and have your product numbers handy. (should be a little holographic sticker on the registration card with a number on it)

If that's the case Reset your points on the radio. Hold down the button on the switch as you turn it on and follow the procedure. Reset the neutral, max brake and max throttle points. If successful it should beep 3 times. Then turn it off and then back on and see what you get.

ive been reading through a bunch of other posts and it appears that the Reventon R model just has weak brakes
