Thinking of making a switch to SP. I run hobby wing just stock speedos. But the shop at track carries this stuff and I'm a hour from the Chicago warehouse . Is the revention any good or should I get there club stock. I only run blinky in buggy and short course . Any any opinions on there motors. I like the prices so just want to see what's up. Thanks
I've been running the stuff since the summer of 2010. It all works really well.
The Reventon (spelled like the Lamborghini model) is a good option and if you get the R or PRO version you can easily run modified in a 2wd buggy or short course truck. The PRO will allow for mod 4wd buggy or mod touring car as well so it is simply more versatile because it allows for lower turn motors. If all you run is stock then the S or stock club ESC will work fine as well.
The MMM motors have a little more oomph and with a higher timing advance sensor board they are very competitive. A team driver did really well at the Spektrum race in stock with that setup. I think he was running the +20 degree timing board.

Cody M, Ryan Pratl, and I'm sure I'm missing all kind of guys are running the SP 17.5 in their buggies and doing very well. I know Cody has won or been top 3 consistently at LHR recently.
Excellent choice

I have a Gt 2.1 Pro Stock.
How do I put it in Blinky? I am trying to race 17.5 blinky.
I have boost at level 1 which is supposed to be 0 so it should blink right?
I have the LCD program box and can change software if I need to but I need to know what to switch to.
Thanks

You need to change the firmware to 508. Which is the blinky firmware for that speedo.

While it's a solid ESC, Go with the R because it's universal in that it's excellent for Stock and when you decide to go Mod it can handle up to a 7.5 motor just fine which is PLENTY!
If you haven't bought a motor yet, check out their v3 line because you won't find a better value. My 7.5 and 8.5 just as good as any motor that costs twice as much or more. Some of these other companies just set prices because their brand following is such customers will pay whatever ridiculous sums and feel they got what they paid for without ever once giving something else a try. I own Trinity, Reedy, Speed Passion, Orion and LRP motors and the only brand I can say with confidence edges everything is LRP, and only then, not by much. The question then becomes, if that marginal improvement in performance is worth more than double the cost to you?
I'm quite happy with my SP motors and don't think 'll ever go with another more pricy brand.

it may be part of the latest firmware download I am thinking. So you download say the 428 one, and when you go to update it shoudl pull up in the various firmware list of what is available.

Thanks Incubus! I currently run a v3 17.5 and Reventon R and love it. The Reventon S would be for a short course dirt oval late model. Its a blinky class, with no options to move to a class with a lower turn motor, so was just looking for something dedicated just to that. As far as SP as a whole... was TQ this weekend, won both qualifiers and the main. I have a 3 month old Tekin RS Gen 2 with a gen 2 Redline motor that now sits in an old SC10. I dont ever see moving away from Speed Passion.

Same with me. I just sold 2 RS Pro ESC's and replaced them with 1.1 Pros.
My only critique is that I'd prefer to have all 3 contact points on the motor situated together for a cleaner flow of the wires but as it stands, it's still the easiest brand of motors to swap out. You can literally run the same car for Stock and mod with the only changes being gearing, motor and ESC settings.
No more than 5 minutes (even less for an experienced person) if you know your car and have the right tools.

Congratulations to Speed Passion driver Cody Meiferdt!!
This past weekend he was TQ and 1st place in both 17.5 2WD Buggy and 17.5 Stadium Truck at the JConcepts Indoor National Series in St.Louis. Cody powered his Associated B4 and T4 using Speed Passion Reventon Pro 1.1 ESCs and 17.5 MMM motors. Once again proving that Speed Passion motors and ESCs pack a punch!
