As far as 17.5 blinky gearing.... I run a v3 with green timing board in the middle, so around 25* timing with a 25 pinion and a 75 spur. This is in a TD Desc210r, with a 2.6 ratio. After a 7 minute main, my temps are in the 155-160 range, and balanced torque/straightaway speed. If I were to move up to any higher pinion, without backing down the timing to 20*, I would run too hot. Remember, allot of times clearing doubles, especially off a corner, requires torque. Adding timing reduces torque, gains top speed. Reducing timing increases torque and reduces top speed. Same goes with adding pinion size and reducing. Depending on your track, you need to determine if its a top speed track, or torque track, and set up your timing and gearing appropriately by feel, lap times and temps. If the track is a balance of the two, you need to find a happy medium. Fortunately, Speed Passion gives you some room to build your motor to your liking... If you want torque, try a stock board at 0-10* timing, with a silver rotor (12.5) and gear the hell out of it (watching temps) at maybe a 28-29 pinion and 75 spur. If speed is what you are after, Try the green board at 30* timing and a 24-25 pinion. If double clearing is still an issue, and you don't feel it should be, check your drive line for any bind as well. Slipper, ball diff, ect.

Reventon Pro has 120A rating, and a smaller fan. Reventon 1.1 has 140A rating and a larger fan. It is my understanding that the BLAZE lineup is designed to run with the 1.1. Also dont forget some SCT wet weight is different than others. This plays a big roll in esc setups.
I am currently using the Blaze 2450 in my 1/8 E buggy. Its smooth.

thanks man. I wonder what the confusion is on why the 1.1 is marketed towards the 5700 and not the pro? either way I had a good line on a used pro cheap. but maybe just pic up a 1.1.. or something else

Maybe you and b4wire can chime in on the scte2.0 thread about it. Seems over there they don't see the 5700 working ..

You can run it with out the fan for that application all day long with no ill effects. ST type vehicles get a ton of air flowing through everything so you'll never run the risk of overheating unless something is severely binding up or some electrical issue. Where you'd want a fan is in a 4WD buggy where the drivetrain is a bit more taxing and the cars a bit heavier with very little ventilation in the bodies. Other than that, these things are beasts and should be fine with most motor/battery/car configurations.

Will try 75/29 or 75/30.

How much the voltage is pulled down depends on several things, what RC, motor, and gearing? And what condition is the lipo in? An older or less than well maintained lipo with high internal resistance will have a lot of voltage drop.

What wind would you guys recommend for mod 2wd buggy? Running on a large outdoor track with 80ft back straight. I can get the V3 motors cheap and I'm leaning towards the 7.5 as I've heard the V3 is a bit down on power.

I pretty much run 8.5v3 everywhere, but if you can handle the 7.5 go for it.

The V3 is great and still used by some of our Pro drivers. The MMM line is newer but not available in certain winds. A 7.5 in v3 would be plenty.
