Hey guys I'm considering the Serpent BE 2.0. I currently run a Mugen nitro buggy and love the way it handles. I'm sure the mugen mbx7 Eco is a great car as well. Last winter I ran a mugen/tekno Mbx6 and it was proubly the best handling buggy I ever drove. But something about this Serpent BE is interesting. I had the 1st 811 nitro buggy. It looked great, quilty was awesome but the car just didn't get around the corners back then. Even the best guys in the area did not look good with them. Anyway I know the quilty of the buggy is there, and the company is focused on racing etc, etc. My Question is does this new buggy turn better then the original 811,s?

If you can't get a V1 or V2 buggy to turn, you are doing something terribly, terribly wrong IMO.

Ok let me ask this then. Lets say the V1 811 turned fine. Does the ebuggy turn like the original or is it revised in any way?

I'm not trying to bash your brand. Please don't take offense to my question.

no offense meant or taken. The steering is essentially the same in the V1 and V2. The V2 has a bit more "locked in" feel to the rear and the V1 is a little more on the edge IMO.

Reason i put that the way that i did, is i have never needed more steering on this car, either high bite indoor, or loose outdoor.

I can turn inside of other buggies and stick the corner.

If your setup is off, and it either is transferring to much, or not enough weight front/rear is the main reason why ebuggies won't turn. Toe out also helps.

There are a few serpents around these parts, haven't seen one that didn't have as much if not more steering than other buggies.

So the difference between the V1 and 2.0 is the entire rear end? That can be upgraded with this?

Upgrade set rear full 811 2.0 (#600642)
http://www.serpent.com/product/600642/

If I put that on a 1.0 like your car will I have essentially a 2.0 minus the diffs internal gear upgrade? Just looking to see what is most cost effective...buy a new 2.0 or find an 1.0 and upgrade.

That is correct. They might have updated a bearing size in the front, but no geometry changes. V2 also has different front springs, but the shocks otherwise are exactly the same.

The Cobra 811Be is arguably one of the best e buggys out there

The steering issues was usually present on the very first edition of the nitro cars because the servo saver spring was too soft so you needed to crank it all the way in to make it work properly or replace it with part # 600330.

After that there have been cases, specially on blue grooved high bite tracks, that there has been the need to actually get rid of steering to make the car easier to drive.

To convert your V1 to a 2.0 all you need is the rear end full kit (600642) and the new diff gears (600627 x 3).

if you decide to go with the new gears in the diffs you will need to increase the weight on the fluids 10, 12, 7 is a good starting point.

No bearing size changes, that was on the nitro car. The version 1 electric car started out with the bearing changes and the v3 center drive train.

Hey guys, just need some help on motor selection. I'm thinking of purchasing a speed passion blaze and was wondering if the motor fits? I know the can is a bit longer than other popular 1/8th motors. Has anyone had any experience with this motor? Thanks.

Regards, Andrew

Andrew,

Do you need to know the dimensions/length? I don't have a Serpent, but I have all the Blaze motors I can measure.

Max length that will fit is 69-70mm.

Nexus, Yeah if you could let me know the can length that would be great. Are all the 1/8th blaze motors the same? I'm looking at the 1800kv sensorless brushless motor, I think it will be a good match for the 811 be 2.0 on a smaller technical track.

Regards, Andrew

Let me check stock.

I am almost certain the 1900/2100/2400 sensorless are all the same dimension.
