Remember............... if you over rev a motor it can get hot too. I almost always run 1 or 2 on punch, and 1 on timing with an 1800kv and an 18 pinion.

Try a little thinner oil up front.

You maybe under geared. I run a 16t indoors medium sized high bite track and a 17 outdoors on a large track and haven't seen over 150 on my dynamic 8 2200. LRP ix8 with standard power band, Reedy 3700mah. That's after a 10 min run.

Are the 180 degree turns smooth/flat, off camber, w/ step-ups or step-downs before the turn, high speed/low speed?

Which JConcepts tires you running? Attached setup sheet is kinda blurry.

Make sure you have all the washers that holds the steering link to your steering spindle. Depending on the setup, the number varies on the amount above/below the ball. However, even if the ones above the ball aren't used to effect a geometry change they still do perform a function; they keep the bolt from over-extending out of the spindle and digging into the arm (thus causing steering to bind).

I think if you look at the arm you'll see some gouges which indicates where the bolt is hitting.

Thumbs up

Big thanks to Tekno RC for the awesome car.
NorCal just finished up an outdoor summer series and the entire series podium was the EB48.

You said 0 boost, I'd suggest you make sure 0 timing. My experience has been that timing/boost in 4 pole motors do make more speed, but not efficiently - so a lot of energy is lost in the form of heat.

14T on a 2200 is a little small, I suspect 16T. Make sure the body has some holes for air (I have some before and after so air can flow through the body).

If it's getting hotter over 10 minutes, make sure you don't have any driveline binding. I'm not familiar with the Dynamic 8 motors, but I believe 165 is still within normal operating temperatures .. so if that is the max temperature then you should be OK. Tekins can run in the 190 range with no damage.

The ebuggy class at NorCal hobbies has been very competitive lately. This weekend's race was no exception. The qualifiers were really tight and it seemed like there was a new leader almost every lap. In the main Brian Tran and I fought for 10 solid minutes and in the end he beat me out by .18 seconds. Our fast laps were only .001 second apart.

The top 6 buggies were all EB48s. Tekno is dominating the ebuggy and 4wd SCT classes here.

My 1900 runs a 15t @145+- on this track
In answer to your question. You can go down to 12 for sure, but you have to remove the center brace.

I installed the aluminum center shaft in my second build but only installed the front brace like before.

Should I put the rear brace in with this shaft? Is that going to be required with the lightweight shaft?

Hey guys I am running the tekin 1900 motor/Rx8 combo and my temps seem a little high (170-180). I am running on a medium/large style outdoor track. What pinion would you guys recommend as I believe that I have a 16 or 17 on there now.? Thanks
