I ran 19T today on 4s. I did have some motor heat problems though. Im really surprised. I thought the HD motor would have no problem with the buggy at about 6.25lbs. Came off after a 10 min main at 210 degrees. I wanted to drop a tooth during the qualifiers but damn grub screw in the pinion stripped and I couldnt get it off so I just left it alone for the day. I'll mess with it one night this week and get the damn thing off.
I may just go back to a normal 1900 T8 motor on the big outdoor tracks for the summer and save the HD for indoor this fall winter I'm sure it will work no problem on the smaller tracks and lower gearing, but I'm thinking its just not quite enough motor to handle the big tracks and taller gearing.

I figured the 1850 on 4s would come off cold...I'm seeing up to 180 after 13ish minutes with the 4300 geared 18/44...I ran a 20 for a few packs the other day by accident and it came off even colder (that has me stumped).
Are your bearings starting to get old by any chance? And did you notice the motor maxxing out on rpm's at all?

Buggy is brand new. one 6 minute heat and one 10 min main before today. New bearings throughout. That said. I did slide the motor out and check that everything was free and smooth. No issues. Very free spinning. Speed seemed pretty good. It wasnt reving out or anything. Just hitting top speed about when I had to hit the brakes at the end of the longest straight. I could have probably gotten away with one tooth less and would have tried it if it weren't for that damn stripped grub screw on the pinion. But at 18T I think I would have been wanting more top end in the fast part of the track.
The track was a little loose today. Lots of wheel spin, but it was no different for anyone else and they weren't any other heat issues. I actually overheated a regular Pro4 1900 motor last week in the 10 min main to the point of demagnetizing it. 270+ degrees after the main.
Little sucker finished the race though.
I could feel the power dropping off in the last couple laps though. Im gonna go through the buggy again just to make sure there is nothing weird going on, but I just think its not quite enough motor.

I ran really well again with it. It was good hard run and I pushed it pretty hard. Definitely didn't baby it. Finished 2nd again with it. There were a bunch of other teknos out there this week. Only guy I couldn't run down was the local untouchable. Amazingly I finished on the same lap as time for the first time ever. He even commented on how good the car looked.

It was pretty hot here today. 87 or so. Nothing blazing. If it cant handle that then it will have no chance in July.

I to am surprised you are having heating issues running 4s with that motor when the 4300 on 2s doesn't get that hot . I was running on my practice track that is clay and has a lot of traction and only got the Pro4 HD in my SCTE to 170 after a full 10 minute run ........

37-40 mph is perfect. Thats about what I typically gear for on a good size track. We have a really good size indoor track that I typically drop to 34-35 mph on.
Was it Cathcart ? That guy is amazing ... If you stayed on the lead lap with him you were really hauling the mail !

What size tire are you using in your calculation? I get 34 point something mph. ???

Yea. He is stupid fast. Really good run for me. Really good. Another minute or 2 in the race and he would have probably gotten the lap on me.

Personally I found it very hard to do, I was taught in racing you should either on gas pedal or brake pedal.
And from the beginning, I found (my) eb48 tend to be very tail happy under braking, a lot of understeer under small acceleration, and back to oversteer when push harder. All of these are very nice, the car's very predictable and easy to drive.
Because of that, I tend to brake in the straight line, and go through the corner with little throttle, let the car kept in the understeer state and safely go through the corner.
Probably not the fastest way, I'm just taking time and learning these monsters.

This past weekend I tried a 2050kv T8 16/44 and it was so fast that I had to get on the breaks much sooner than the others to slow down enough for the turn at the end of the straight.....approx 40mph(scriptasylum)
To each their own I guess. I only like having enough motor to clear the biggest jump on the track comfortably.....

First race was great w/a 1900 trackstar/4s geared 18t on a medium size outdoor track. I made a few changes from stock as I built it, swapped f+r sways, drilled 4 holes to 1.5 in the stock pistons, 40f/35r losi oil, and removed anti squat. also removed some droop on both ends(not sure on a #) and moved r links out 1 hole after a few laps. Still had tons of steering everywhere and planted in the rear on/off throttle.
I remember someone talking about trying some of the bigger sway bars a while back, Any feedback? There were a couple spots on the track where it felt like some stiffer bars would help.

Yea everyone has their own preference. Believe me. I drive one off the lower powered buggies on the track. 1700kv motor on 4s is what I was running, and now trying to make the SC motor work. I have no idea how some people can drive the 2200kv motors and hang on to them.

i disagree. when cruising at top speed at WOT, the load is very low and i doubt the voltage sags very much. i think using the max charge voltage is probably closer than nominal when trying to figure speed.
