If you are using a Futaba FHSS (not sure if the other stuff has the option so can't comment) compatible radio, there is a receiver they make that is antenna-less. I use this and don't have a need for any tubes, etc. Range has been excellent as well.

Some guys will also heat up their antenna tube (without the wire in it) and bend it permanently over in their chassis. On my Futaba I opened up the receiver case and pulled maybe an inch back in it and then snapped it back together. I also have about a couple inches in a loop inside my chassis. This combined with my already relatively short antenna on my Futaba only gives me a minimal height antenna sticking out. So I have an exposed antenna, it's just really really short so it never breaks when racing.

anyone know if boiling the b4 plastic front arms with soften them up a bit? I know in general it works. Just thinking of bullet proofing a b4 for my 8 year old. And the arms are the weakest part.

Yeah, RPM doesn't make arms for the B4, just the T4. I know this to be 100% true, at least it was back in October the last time I checked. I too was teaching my 8 year old to race back then (he's already owning me on the track).
I did boil mine once and I don't think it made a difference, ALTHOUGH I believe I had a set of arms that were mislabeled from AE. The arms were gray before boiling and I swear they actually were carbon, and not the plastic ones. With the lack of quality control I wouldn't be surprised if they were mislabeled. I'd try it though... used to work for us back in the 80's, though that was much different plastic.

I actually had my email forwarded to the CEO and he responded... said he was considering it but feared there just wasn't a market for it and that the molds I believe he said cost $10k or something like that and he needed to recoup his investment. I'd imagine he initially probably looked at this as the buggy market started to decline. Now that the buggy class has been taking off they probably assume they're behind the curve making some as *eventually* the B4 platform will be retired (though we've all been waiting a real long time for a B5).

On carpet I would even use the bumper since it doesn't dig into the surface and gave me a bit more steering to boot.
#4887
That's exactly why. If you read the product descriptions everything that says B4 also says T4 so it's only the parts the two have in common. I run RPM rear hubs because they happen to be interchangeable with the B44 (they have outside big bearings like the FT hubs, but plastic).

you could put on the RPM wide front bumper. It really saves the a-arms. Had a buddy drive a carbon B4 for his first ever time at the carpet track. He hit stuff hard enough he broke the chassis, but the a-arms were a-ok.

My youngest went through the same problems with his t4.1, broken arms. Put a wide bumper on. Stripped the bumper screws out of the top plate. I solved that by getting an aluminum top plate. Haven't had any more breakage problems since (getting him to come off the throttle in the corners probably didn't hurt either
). All the extra weight on the front really makes the front dig in on turn in. I moved the lipo all the way back to help. It's not to bad on handling, but he's not that into it any more, so I haven't put more effort into getting a great setup for him yet. Maybe he'll get back into it more during the summer & I'll work more on the setup then.
