I like the aluminum Hubs, way more options and if the bearing goes bad they hold up.

Anyone know if the Orion 6000 packs can be crammed in under the rear top plate with out modding the plate? I'm getting ready to build a new kit for the season and was thinking about upping the run time a bit for practice days.

BTW I don't have a kit right now. So if anyone can take a moment to measure from where the battery sits to the bottom of the top plate would be cool. I need 32mm to fit the battery alone. The Reedy pack is 25mm plus battery plugs its real close. Right now I'm on the fence. I may just run the Reedy packs again?

ok im running protek 5300 mah and they are 25mm tall. I get 25 minutes runtime easy with them and im thinking they are a tad too heavy but certainly work well. next is that you dont need to worry so much about height of toplate its that those blue stand offs only screw out so far before you run out of threads on them. I can supply pics and you judge accordingly.

Sounds like the same thing as a Reedy then. I guess I could just order the kit and build it. Then decide on the packs. I get some really good run times on the 5200 packs as well. And they have a better C rating than the Orions to.

my proteks are 70c and they perform well. there case is extra thick too and you dont see that much. also keep in mind you will need the low profile bullet connectors too. I will post a decent pic of setup.

No worry I run the same type of connectors. Post some pics up though if ya want. Never know I might pick up an Idea. I have ran the protek packs as well. Good battereies IMO.

What I do is instead of using the set screws that go into the blue post for the blue thumb screws that hold the battery straps down, I put a long 4/40 screw through the top of the thumb screw it self and I can run any size packs, plus I have fat fingers so I can use my hex driver to take the thumb screws on and off, much easier for me and works great.
