Looks like they modded the shock towers. The rear looks different.

IF you have followed AE from its Inception, you know that for them to completely change and make a new car is few and far between. They JUST released the B44.1 less than a year ago as well as the B4.1 WE. Its not cheap to re-tool and re-engineer a car from scratch. AE does several small changes over the course of a couple years, but realistically, we see a NEW car, what 4-8 yrs? When Lipo was the latest, they tweaked the Shock tower. Later they lengthened the chassis. other than the changes with the BB setup, nothing has really changed.

Knowing some people on the Inside at AE, I can tell you you won't see a "NEW" car for quite a while. What you WILL see are FT upgrades, or WE upgrades. much like the recent FT SC104x4 upgrade, it wasn't a whole new truck, it was a few key elements and upgrades of certain parts.

My guess is there will be a BB suspension upgrade with some different shocks, perhaps towers and arms for geometry, but other than that, they might start changing the WE to include a BB shock, but overall, its silly to keep asking when is the BB kit is coming.

AE has HOURS and HOURS in testing and tuning to get something right before they just throw it into production for the masses. I've spoken to Cav and other people at AE and when they aren't racing big events, they are testing products and working on prototype parts for later release. If something isn't going to work for Cav, Mayfield, And the other top AE drivers at the PRO level, why would they offer it to the rest of us Amateurs if its not 100%? Chances are the stuff you see in the pics wont look the same when it hits production anyway. Name a 1:1 concept car that looks EXACTLY like a later production version? Exactly!!

For now, mix and match components and test different ideas and see how they work for you on your home tracks. I understand the cost factor in trying new things, but at least you are satisfying your desire for the BB setup until an "Official AE" version is released.

Sorry if this comes off like a rant, but maybe because I've been involved in this hobby for over 15yrs and I've seen the changes take place and the time frame in which things move. It bugs me when people are screaming for NEW NEW NEW when the current stuff still kicks ass and wins Championships. When its perfected, you'll hear about its availability. NUFF SAID!!!!

/Rant

No one is asking for a new kit. Just a set of "AE" Big Bores. I'm in no hurry and have been waiting for an "AE" version of shock, but all we are talking about are shock towers and shocks. We can test them our self. Or try the A teams tricks. The racers are all but demanding them. Look at all the money that was spent with drivers running other manufacturers springs and shocks. AE almost has to make a big deal out of it and make changes to get anyone to buy a new kit. At this point why else would anyone want to buy a set to replace the 200 they probably have in there current off brand shocks. AE put them self in a rut by not just producing shocks and springs to sell us as an option. Not because drivers "need them" but rather we just want them, Kyosho and Losi should be happy right now. Just our desire sold so many springs and shocks that they could not stock enough of them to keep up with demands. They had to of been shocked (no pun intended) to find there lack of supply was being used on an AE kits. So now AE racers have made them do just what AE racers wanted, put out a V3 shock. Lucky for me I am ready for a new kit. So I will keep waiting and see what happens.

Personally the V2 shocks will probably work best on our indoor track. The team drivers at our indoor track tested some BB springs and went back to the stock. But I would bet the BB shock body and spring would be great for outdoor tracks.

My guess is Lap times wont get any faster but they will be a good option for out door tracks.

Here's a great example.....
Losi or whoever will come out with a new kit or option offering gear diffs.

AE drivers will have to wait for a new kit to get gear diffs. And all we want is an affordable "AE" option.

Caster gear diffs look like a fit and finish option and if so how many will they need to stock once the word gets out?

I was going to c clip the pinion on but the b44 shaft was very hard to machine because of how hard it was. So I wound up laser welding the pinion onto the shaft. (Kind of sucks because if the pinion bearings need to be replaced I'm sol, I'm not too worried though cuz those rarely go out.) Then I had to machine some spacers to make the durango bearing fit in the associated case. Which is the blue plastic spacers in the pic.
Here it is

I havent had to rebuild a diff or replace a ring and pinion in a year and a half. Still smoothe as butter. Plus i can land on the gas as hard as i want without worrying about toasting diffs. I was backflipping our triple landing full trigger nothing broke
