Tekin RX8 1/8 Scale Brushless ESC Thread
Randy, et al:
You guys generally recommend 40C+ packs for the RX-8 and 1/8th scales.
What do you have to say about SMCs new "Premium Certified" packs that are rated 25C based on measured discharge characteristics, rather than marketing propaganda: http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=357870

A pack that puffs is either being ran below a safe voltage cut off range or isn't rated with enough C to provide the power the system is asking of it. If you're "1,000,000 C" rated pack is puffing, you're being lied to

Randy, tried to pm you this but it bounced, hope you can help.
I am thinking of picking up or doing a conversion of an HPI Savage to a 5SC Flux (conversions will be with either a TCS or Alza Racing conversion).
The stock electronics appear to be a castle MMM and the HPI version of the castle 2200Kv motor.
as I have been a bit spoiled by sensored operation, I wanted to see if the Tekin RX8 can handle 6S use with a truggy sized Tekin motor in similar specs to the castle stuff in this vehicle without voiding the warranty. If not, no worries.

On the RX8 with a 4600 pro 4 motor, or any motor ....turning down the current limit to 50, 60 %... does it affect the top end speed or just control the burst at take off ? and to what rpm does it cut off IF it does ? and run regular or does the current also limit heat from not used power transfer to the esc ? Thanks

It doesn't affect top speed directly as it's doesn't limit the speed of the motor. It only limits the amount of power the motor can have on initial take offs.

Yes, it's legit. lol
I posted that exact info a month or two ago in this thread (not that I would expect anyone to read the whole thread for a single bit of info) and since I finally got my personal website up and running it seemed wise to start copy/pasting any quality posts I do to my easily searchable site. That way when the info gets buried in a couple weeks and someone else asks I can just post a link.

Yes, it would limit that. Short run up jumps are a good place to find the 'minimum' setting you should use at a given track.
