SC10 4x4 Thread
Ok, I know a lot of this has been covered in this thread, but hopefully someone can be kind enough to help me out and answer all of my questions. I am pickinbg up an SC10 4x4 to run as my third class, because 2wd SC is not very popular at my local track, and kyosho doesn't make a 4WD SC.
1. Will the wheels I use on my SC-R work on this truck and still be legal? They are slash rear offset. If not, what wheels do I need?
2. Could someone list the necessary upgrades for the truck, and mods, and how they are done. I am reading about saddle conversions, slipper problems, chassis braces, and swaybars.
3. Can someone link me to a good setup for a Med/High grip wet clay track?
4. I am guessing that I am not going to be able to get away with my Orion VST 7.5 motor, so what should I get, a Pro4 4600 or a 550 4.5? I will be running the orion R10 pro ESC. Also, what should I be geared with any of the above options?
5. What spares should I keep?
Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to take the time to answer my questions.

I hope this helps. You will need a dremel in order to make this fit.

1)dont know about the SCR wheels, just buy Jconcept haazard wheels they have the perfect offset
2) Garodisc take care of the slipper issues, or bypass the whole thing and go straight to an RCshox center dif. definately need a sway bar kit. Saddles are not needed but i feel that they handle and jump better, especially mounted inline. 2 stage pistons are also i very handy upgrade.
3) here is a good base setup and information on other parts:
http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...-services.html scroll down.
4) the Tekin pro4 4000kv is hands down the best SC motor in existence!! 4600 is too much.
4) RPM arms, body mounts thats all you need to keep in your box, the arms dont break but they tend to bend/tweak. the body mounts get worn out in the rear.
Saun you missed the pre-order on the center difs but more will be available first of the year. info is here:

I think your under geared. Sweet spot for the 4000kv Pro4 seems to be between 15-17. The smaller the track the lower the gear. Under gearing can result in heat issues as well. I'd try starting with a 15 and see what you get. 175 for the Pro4 is not an issue if the performance is where you want it.
As for chewing up spur gears and that high pitch screeching noise, I'd recommend you loosen up your gear mesh. The first time I bench tested my setup it made a ton of noise, so I opened up my mesh and problem solved. Have you rechecked the front diff case housing? You can't over tighten those three bolts or you'll bing up the front end.

I put a 15t pinion on but i havent had a chance to run it yet. As far as track size goes I'm really not sure. I've only run on two tracks, one being TRCR and the other Four Seasons. I mostly run at Four Seasons and Id say its a medium track but maybe WC or another south puget sound local can tell me otherwise.
The way i set my gear mesh is by sound. I start it with no play then loosen it until the sound smoothes out, is this wrong?
After reading some of the other replies Ive gotten I did check the transmission bolts and they seem good. The front is actually very smooth, its the rear I"m having trouble with.

Getting the RTR version of one of these trucks. Is there anything I should know or do to the truck out of the box? Planning on racing this in SC 4x4 mod class. I've heard the screws in the shocks should be checked and the diff oil should be topped off. Anything else?
Thanks
Thanks
Can't wait to hit the track with this baby. I'm already the king of 1/8 nitro buggy and 2wd SC at my track, now time to take the 4wd SC crown
When the RTR is released and all these people come flooding in refusing to read the last 800 pages... I'm going to have a fit.
