Hey Horizon, would some sort of "heads up" announcement been that hard?
I AGREE 100% with you on this!!! I understand they make mistakes with their product marketing but just to up and switch without consumer knowledge just isn't right! Even though the DSMR is much improved from earlier versions

My DX4R Pro on latest firmware binds to DSM, DSM2 & DSMR confirmed.

It even Binds to Clones

Here it is after Binding & in control of the servo

I'm not sure what's special about my DX4R Pro, it is what it is.

Just want to be sure before I update. I'm running v1.05.2 on my radio now. It has all the AVC crap built in. Just got this radio, brand new in December 2015.

The software update on the site, that Spektrum tells me I need, is listed as v1.03 and dates from nearly 2 years ago.

The software you actually download to an SD card is v1.3, with no date.

So. I've got 1.05.2, the site lists 1.03 as an update, but downloads 1.3. WTF?

Funny, I hadnt tried to bind with anything but DSMR until just now. Tried an assortment of DSM and got nothing. Tried a DSM2 and it worked. Guess I'll try the update and see what happens.

EDIT: Just had a look at the website, it says it's compatible with DSM2 and DSMR only. Be a shame if the update screwed that up. As it sits now, I have a few trail trucks, a Losi Micro SCT and my very first Spektrum RX from 2008 running DSM and they're all garbage.

I'm looking at getting the Dynamite DYN1982 steering wheel for my DX4R Pro, is it in fact smaller than the stock steering wheel on the radio? The stock wheel is just too big and I'd like something smaller.

It's weird, my DX4R binds to DSM receivers.

Just for the record. My 4Rpro is well over a year old and never had a firmware update, and I've never tried to bind it with anything other than DSM2 and DSMR. My previous post was based on what the OP said and what I have heard about DSMR and federal regs.

Why should I even update my software anyway? Will I magically have a 4PXr or M12s?? I've been a faithful Spektrum user for many years but my next radio purchase will involve spending more money and jumping ship to another brand, sorry to say.

Just got a note back from a tech at Horizon (Spektrum) and he said none of their current radios will bind to the old DSM receivers. Guess it's a "luck of the draw" thing. Too bad because I have several old Spektrun DSM receivers and wanted to get a new Spektrum radio and upgrade receivers 1 at a time as I can't afford to do them all at once. Since that wont work according to Spektrum, I guess I'll have to jump ship and go with a futaba since I'll have to get all new receivers anyway.

Default spring different rate

Hello guys, just tested the 4R, but had a strange feel about the steering spring tension, not broken but i feel the left balance, when you turn the wheel to left is harder than the opposite...

anyone has found it out ? thanks !

Someone mentioned 5.5 frame rate for the clones, and it worked. I tried to bind the blue clone at 11 frames and it didn't work, but went to 5.5 and it worked fine. I really like these rx's as they work great, and there's no way you can beat the price. I pulled the sr2000 rx and put the Blue in it's place.
