DX4R Pro

What do you guys think? I like the black case and steering wheel. The foam on the steering wheel looks really thin though

I like it a lot. Black case is very cool. Won't replace my DX3R Pro just yet, but I dig it.

Looks very nice. But I will be staying with my futaba. I don't understand why manufactures need to put in a 50 model memory. nobody has 50 different cars that they are going to set that many different profiles for.

I guess you could set different profiles to run the same car, just switch out things to cater to different tracks...but still 50?

that receiver is minuscule!

I race monster trucks(clods) and have 5 currently, and will be adding more. Plus my stadium truck, SCT, and Slash. This will be a good option. Ive been wanting a new radio for a long time, and this one has features of both radios DX3R Pro, and DS4X. :)

Maybe because its there anyway? I’m guessing they use mostly readily available chips, the general trend seems to be memory is cheap lets add more, assume once programming is done for a few models having more is relatively easy, etc. Might be a why not deal. Just guessing though.

They wont do what KO does, and they don't need too. They have a great product.
Very few companies come with lipo. I have the Helios, and I still use NiMh, because KO told me NOT to use Lipo in the radio, it wasn't made for Lipo.

I started out with an old DX3 (3 model memory) and out grew it quickly as the rc addiction set in. Then it was on to a 3pm (10 models) and finally a 4pks (50), for a high end radio this should be considered normal. Its because the average newbie doesnt go and drop $300+ on a radio right off the bat. Heck I have multiple profiles in my 4PK for just my sedan depending on conditions so I can make feel adjustments from the stand if needed. Currently eating up ~17 or so at last count, but its nice to know I have room to grow.

I'm actually not a fan of the angled drop down but an adjustable trigger and wheel should be there. I agree that radio manufacturers should move to life/lipos from the factory. That has been the 1st mod I have done to all my radios.

NiMh is still the best for radios.

What I want to know is, does it still feel like a miniature kids toy radio in your hand like all the other Spektrum radios.

+1 Low Self Discharge nimh are great for transmitters. Work as well as lipo, with little to no concern of puffing or accidentally being left on too long. Weight isn't much of an issue at least with these transmitters. I’ve used them for several years, only charge a few times a year. Recently used a transmitter that had sat for a year, worked fine.

Guess it makes sense. Thanks for putting it like that.

I like the antenna that Spektrum are using on the DX4Rs. I'm sure that you could mod something like that on the DX3R-Pro, would be far better than the standard antenna.
