Randy ,

I have a 2050 and its giving me some issues.

I first used it in a x ray 808e , and its always been warm. I ran a set up I mentioned here before and it was over 200 deg after a pack. That buggy had 4:30 diffs and a 42 spur. I ran a 18 and the rotor came apart on the 4th or 5th pack. I assumed at the time the failing rotor may have been causing my issues.

I pulled the system and sold that buggy . I bought a xb9e and put the system in that buggy with a new rotor and bearings . The drive train on the buggy is fresh , new bearings etc. The xb9 has 3.33 diffs with a 46 spur and the math led me to a 15t pinion.
Esc with the 15t came off at 3 lights , and the motor came off at 215. With a 14t 210 , and with a 13t 220ish.

LM has been set to 60% and my radio is on 90% .

Is a 16 or 17 going to cool it down ? Opinions ?

thanks .

With the 46 spur and 3.3 ratio the 15-16T should be the right range. My first ? is when the car gets warmer during the run, does it feel like the drag brake increases on it's own? Also how many mah are you putting back into the packs after 10 minutes?

No , no change in drag brake that I can tell , I have it set to off or 0 , and I dont feel like it changes.

Never ran just 10 minutes , always went to just before lvc. Coming off at about 3.5 volts. I didnt really pay attention to what went back in them. I did feel like my batteries were getting hit really hard . They were coming out of the buggy at 110dg with the lm on 60%

Sounds like I need to vent the body , put the 15 back on , and run 10 minutes and pay attention to it this time ...

If you're running the pack to LVC you're under a load, below 3.5v for sure. This is what we call a "soft hit" on LVC.

Check your mah usage. And time how long your runs are. If it's 14 minutes your temps are high for that reason. Adding venting to the body will help.

How big is your track? Lots of wheel spin?

wittyname 06-09-2014 10:56 AM

I would describe the track as med. This link may work

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iipDg...ature=youtu.be

It was the first day of a new layout and it was slick in the am , with good grip later in the day . I would say there was some wheel spin , but not fighting it all day or anything like that.

To clarify your post : Are you saying that the higher loads that close to lvc may be causing the battery heat AND the motor heat ?

Is thier a MAH number we are looking for ?

Thanks for your help btw.

RX8 vs RX8 Gen 2

I'm trying to figure out if I need to upgrade to the Gen 2 to stay competitive, what are the main differences between those two? is it the programable BEC voltage and the programing port only?

Regards, jb

That's a decent sized track with a full length straight, gear up to the 16T.

Pellot, you do have the option to send it to Tekin Europe by way of RCDisco. Contact them and they can help you get it sorted out service wise.

Randy, I've sent my broken ESC to RC Disco according to their instructions. How long time does it usually take them to handle support cases like this?

It has been three weeks now since they received my broken ESC and they don't answer my e-mails any more. I'm starting to get worried.

Pellott, I believe I've already gotten involved on this issue. You contacted [email protected] already correct?

Is it possible to have the BEC pump out 8.4v?

It was exactly the same with my esc. Guy from rc disco answered right away just my first mail and he told me that they need to wait for ESC restock . Then it took 10+ days to answer my next mail. And answer was just he is bussy in shop. I got my new esc in 4-5 weeks. My opinion is that rcdisco here in EU really does not stand up to standards tekin has overseas. Seems juts it is bothering them.

Having trouble with a rx8gen2 I bought from a board member. I have a 3pk super and set the profile to factory defaults. Also set the RX8 to factory defaults. When in setup mode, it never detects neutral.
  • the esc is connected to the rx properly
  • good solid and proper solder connections
  • tx battery is full
  • servo works fine
  • rx works fine in another car
  • tried changing throttle on tx to reverse
  • sensor wire is new

When NOT in setup mode, the ESC lights change when pulling throttle or brake, so it appears to be getting signal from the RX. Also the fan comes on as soon as it turns on. Not sure if that's normal.

I read about neutral width being a problem but don't see that in my 3pks or the manual. Am I missing something else?

Thanks

I believe the neutral width is in the programming of the esc. You probably will need the hot wire to change it.

fq06 06-11-2014 06:32 AM

Yeah, increase neutral width with the pit tune buttons till the esc recognizes your radios neutral.
Also just to make sure... neutral is the first to read in calibration. Neutral, beep, throttle, beep, brake. Its a different sequence than some other esc's.

SPOT MY 6 06-11-2014 06:44 AM

I found the neutral width settings in the rx8 manual and will give that a try tonight. Hopefully thats it, thanks!
