Something along the lines of this, tests the motors power. Maybe the number is not a realistic number (5hp? 0.5hp?) but it is a repeatable nuber that you can compare motor to motor.

I'll be honest guys I wouldn't expect that setup to hold up to the 4 pole motor testing...
|
That was just a pic for reference.
Then that gets us back to mailing a motor out for testing since I doubt anyone has the gumption to put a dyno together :) |
The challenge here is that the two motors are different speeds (4700 vs 4300). If they were the same, you could simply put the truck on blocks, use throttle EPA to set runs at 100%, 80%, 60%, etc, and check motor temps along the way.
Since the motor speeds are different, and the question posed is "which motor is faster", the assumption is that the 4300 either runs the same pinion at a cooler temp, or a larger pinion at the same temp (unless I am missing some basic principal). So how do we test the above? |
I don't see faster as a top speed thing. I see is as a power thing.
In a Tekno the HW geared at 15 and the HD geared at 17 should give close to the same back straight top speed but that can be sorted out at the track. Power to clear the quad? Hole shot punch? Temps after a 10 min run? |

I second that. I run the Futaba 4PLS with the motor temp telemetry sensor hooked up. I will video the challenge and post the results on YouTube. Send me a Pro4 4300HD and i will do the comparison. Give me a max temp to keep motor under, set a runtime of 3 minutes on road at essentially full speed. I have pinions ranging from 13t to 18t on my SCT410. I can use the RPM data from the RX8.2 log to document max speed, average speed, and motor temps.
So Team Tekin, put your money (i.e. a 4300HD) where your mouth is and let's do this!!! |

@ Ty... So, is the motor in the mail yet?:lol::D
It would be nice to see a power curve and peak power ratings like a car dyno graphs out. It would really just be for giggles though as the seat of your pants impression is the most important. I believe there is a rc dyno that can be purchased but its probably $1k or more. I've always been in the more is better camp as you can always tune power out but you can't get 101% or more power. |
I like to test out which better on my home track here in oz see which I can get faster time out off

Just wondering why Tekin includes 12AWG wires into their 8th scale combo? 8th scale batteries - 10AWG built-in wires, my current Mamba also have 10AWG power and motor connection. Furthermore, google says that 12AWG is ok for 100Amps cont. current. Is it worth to use 10AWG instead kit cables?

Absolutely Not needed what so ever. |

Ok, on the 4pk you will need your throttle channel reversed. For now set your epa's to 100/100. Also make sure your brake strength on the radio is set to 100%. If you have throttle dual rate, make sure it too is 100%.
Go into your BLS menu and turn BLS off on channel 2. If you're racing go into the same throttle menu and make sure your throttle ratio is set to 70/30,not 50/50. Retry the calibration. IF it fails, use your steering channel (#1) and attempt it there using the wheel. If it cals there, something is wrong on your radio/tx on Ch2...it's not the esc. |
Someone convince me why I need to get an rx8 to replace my sct pro. Nothing wrong with the hobbywing, I just like to tinker and the rx8 has more options and it would be nice to give more juice to the servo.
The sct pro has never failed me and honestly I am wondering if the $100 will be worth it. |
what AWG wire size?
What AWG wire does Tekin Gen2 Combos come with? Also what if any difference does wire size make? Main reason I'm asking is because I'm going to have my wires red, white, blue so ill need to order some wire.
