Laterilus,

I placed the order with Horizon directly a couple months ago online. Also, you have a Pm.

Spektrum update:

After getting my Spektrum back from Horizon 2 weeks ago, I reinstalled it for the first race yesterday. The first thing I did was to put the car on teh set up station and check the EPA left and right. I was surprised to find it turned to exactly 17 degree in both directions. Pleasantly surprised I should add... Anyway, I wanted to test for interference, so with a low battery in the radio (9.6V rechargable M8) I turned the car on and set it one shelf below my 2.4Ghz wireless router running 3 wireless laptops at the time. I put books in front and behind the car just in case....lol. I let the car sit there where I could hear it if it moved for over 2 hours. It never moved and never glitched. Not ONE SINGLE chirp from the car, although the M8 started b!tching at me about the voltage- hehe.

That was Sat night. Yesterday at the race of course the first thing I did was turn opposing circles on the track to test for equal steering- perfect again. Next I ran the car. Pefect again. Given, this was outdoors and my problems occurred indorrs the Birds, but the glitch test was indoors with Flou. lighting all around.

So to sum it up, my system couldn't have worked better and I'm completely satisfied. I never recieved one glitch at the race and I want to publicly thank John and Horizon for standing behind the product and on top of the issues. I'll say it again- and again if needed- this technology is a wonderful addition to our hobby and I understand there are always bugs to be worked out with new technology. I support them 100% and appreciate all they have done. Kep up the good work!!

Called Horizon - I haven't had any significant issues but since I'm taking next Sat off, it's a good time to get the little ones taken care of.

Talked to James - very helpful and took my name and zip so they'd be looking for my package.

Said 2-3 days turnaround. . . so I'll send them off today and we'll see how long! :D

Well I called Horizon on Fri. to ask about the system I sent in on the 24th of Feb. and was again told that the systems were back ordered and mine would not be shipped for another few weeks due to them waiting on them.

Mine is for the M8.

Boomer- which system did you have?

Boomer 03-21-2005 09:54 AM

M8 with two receivers.

Hmmm, boy I hope his 2-3 day estimate is good. . .

glad I didn't get rid of my synth stuff.

spektrum

does anybody know if these problems you are describing are also happening with the first batch of ko systems? after literally 200 phone calls i found one at stormer(the last one?). I tried Horizon first. they told me not to order from them, they are meeting the order obligations to their distributors first and it could be months before any are sold direct.

it sounds like you may have had a unit with the bad bind button, if so then they are replacing the unit. if its just the software update then 2-3 day turn around should be fine.

the problems are with the first batch - M8 units and potentially any tranceivers from the first release.

I got one of the first batch systems for the M8 and I got to use it for the first time yeaterday. Actually, everyone at my track that got one from the first batch has not had a problem with them.

It's awesome. This sytem is incredible!

Boomer 03-21-2005 12:55 PM

Yeah, I agree.

My issues were both minor (failsafe not correct, receiver resetting on 4-cell mod) and I was able to overcome both easily, but since I'm taking next weekend off (watching MarkA run rally-cross) it's a great time to send them in. . .

Hey Ron, Anyone...

Is Spektrum/Horizon doing anything about the first batch that was shipped to retailers, but was never sold to end users? I know there aren't many for the M8 that are still available, but I'd rather get one that has already got the software update. Did Spektrum issue anything to the shops that got the first batch, asking for them to be sent in for an update??? Hoping.....

Thanks,

Mike

My system was sent in because of the "lag" problem not an issue with binding!

I am getting ready to return 3 KO units to Horizon. If I can help anyone out with getting them sooner give a shout to me at [email protected] and we can talk payment stuff.

So some of the KO units had issues too?

What a turn of events....

Quick recap: I had purchased a Spektrum as my last resort for the recent Nats. The track had caused three of my previous radio systems to glitch heavily, causing hundreds of dollars in broken parts. The Spektrum was from the original batch and had all the documented issues, but it didn't glitch.

Update: Anyway, I here my name announced over the blaring PA system on Thursday. I walk over to the announcers booth to find John Adams from Spektrum offering his assitance to me! WOW Talk about first rate customer support!!!!

He reprogrammed my receiver with the new software. Issues GONE! Furthermore, he stood by the track for my first qualifier with the handheld data aquisition unit to take "packet measurements", ensuring my receiver wasn't losing too much information. Spot on!

The system is super fast. I had to adjust a bit for the increase in responsiveness.

Even though I had an issue with the Horizon rep, I can honestly say that Spektrum went above and beyond the call of duty to assist their customers at the Nats. Keep in mind, the factory guys like Losi,Jr, Hodge and one other, already had working units. John Adams showed up for just a handful of us unsponsored guys!
