I had something of the same problem - it was when I went from nearly neutral to full throttle (as in something ahead so glide then hit it when past. . .) - I could reproduce the problem on my bench - essentially the power drain from stabbing the throttle reset the receiver and esc.

I'm using a 450 micro-farad capacitor on my receiver - just taped to it. Works great. The normal use of capacitors is to smooth out peaks or valleys in a voltage current and this was my problem - sounds like yours too.

Just connect it to a Z-connector, positive to pos and negative to neg and plug it in.

hey boomer FYI

this power flux problem your correcting with the capacitor is an actual know problem with the first M8 units sent out. the better news is that the software has been corrected and you just need to send it back (follow instructions on Spektrum site) and they turn them around quickly.
another problem you may see as a result is that the trim's will vary causing you to turn the car off then back on.

Default RE: Spektrum for M8

After finally getting the modules to bind, I was optomistic about racing this past weekend.....

....I practiced for the nats at Hobby Chamber on Saturday. I ran the first battery down to "dump" level and the receiver shut the car off safely. However, the trim problem occured. After cycling the system on and off a few times, the trims went back to their original positions. Hrm???

....I began feeling a bit of lag, but wasn't sure about it because the sensation was intermittent. Other than those issues, Saturday went well.

....On to the ORL race on Sunday at Horsham Raceway (DC Ultratrax). This was a much tighter course. The lag problem turned into an occasional pause. This did NOT feel like a glitch, it just pauses, mimic-ing a dead car (no throttle or steering). Mind you this is for a super short period of time. Initially I perceived this as me just missing the line, as in human error. But after running for two days straight it became clear the system was to blame. (not that I'm all that)

....There was one instance when the car lurched and steered as if it were glitching, just as I turned the ESC on. It calmed down after about a full second, and only happened this one time out of about 12 battery packs.

....Overall, this system will be great when the bugs are cleaned up. It is SOOOOO nice not worrying about glitching! Walking directly onto the drivers stand is also pretty cool. After one of my runs, I shut the transmitter off and left the car on the track for about 5 minutes just to see what would happen. Happy to say it just sits there like a perfectly trained dog. Once the glitch-fest at the Nats is over with I am definitely sending my unit in for the revision.

these problems have been addressed - its unfortunate they had this problem but again the GREAT NEWS is that its fixed. go to the Spektrum site (www.spektrumrc.com) and send your entire unit back. the bind button in the first batch had also been found on a percent to be bad too.
they are turning them around quickly - but its not too usable until you get the software update either.

btw - steven wright is very funny

thanks! a fellow oval racer sonny brown works for horizon hobbies. he left a killer response to my questions on hobby talk. i begged him to come over here and put out some fires. if he doesn't come over in a few days i'll copy and paste his message.

he does say to use a stutter stopper or receiver pack in 4 cell racing (only if you are having issues) not all speedos in 4 cell are working well with spektrum and the fix (as of now) is to use a cap or pack. check out hobby talk under oval products for more info.i picked up a cap at radio shack today. i will test again friday. thanks bro

They had mine back in about a week or so. Maybe 8 days. I was very pleased and John the main guy personally wrote me a note saying went back and double checked both my recievers on the bench after uploading the new software.

As long as they stand behind the product and continue to address bugs promptly as they have so far I'm very pleased and even happy to do my part in providing information to help them trace down any more problems. This technology will make r/c racing sooooo much better from the standpoint of the race directors.

I also ran my system for the first time this weekend, indoor offroad track and did not see any problems or lack or repsonse time. The pit areas had flouresent lights about and the system worked fine on the bench also. So far it looks good, I plan on trying it in my sedan this weekend....Gotta love technology

Imprsme - The same thing happened to me, however I was told they "misplaced" my unit. Then the service guy said I'd have to wait until they filled their backorders first before replacing my unit that they lost....I will say they ended up doing the right thing by sending a brand new unit out 2nd day once I spoke to the Customer Service Manager.

Doug- they said they recieved mine so I can't say to much right now. PLUS the letter I sent in with it wasn't too polite.

You ever get a new ride? Not sure if you would be interested but a bunch of us from Rosewood are going to Debbie's this weekend. Something like 10 or so of us. I am riding with Brandon. Now that he has something that we can get two ppl in with race gear. I love my Cobra..... but it has no room.
