some tracks run it as a stock spec class, which would be blinky mode, no timing at all permitted. Others, like mine run it as a 17.5 class. This will allow you to manipulate timing and turbo and such. 17.5 's respond much better to timing than a 8.5 mod motor would. 17.5 is more of a driver class, especially blinky, as you have to have setup and driving dead on to be in the top of the class. (versus mod which is driver and who's got the biggest motor.....sort of)

To shut off turbo just leave the turbo setting at 0. The V3 series also has pre programed profiles for different motors. (Blinky,17.5, 13.5, sct ect) when you have the program box hooked up just hit the R/p button. There you can switch modes and get into the data logger (max esc temp, max motor temp, and max rpm)

On a side note, the V3 series is great. To switch to blinky all you do is set both turbo/boost to 0 and the esc will blink. No more hooking up to the pc program to re flash the firmware. Like turboTim suggested.

At my track we use boost in 17.5. What your talking about is what we call box stock.
No timing no boost everything at zero. Thanks anyway

You are correct that a 17.5 response to timing advance much better than an 8.5. A boosted 17.5 can be super smooth and run with great success in a mod class or open timing class. You will never get the low end power or grunt that a lower turn motor will generate like an 8.5 in 2wd Buggy vs a 17.5.

In regards to Mod biggest motor win is a bit of a stretch. I have watched many many times where drivers going from 17.5 (stock class) move to mod with a bigger motor and there lap-times actually go up. Putting the power down and keeping it under control with a 8.5 or a 7.5 in a 2wd buggy is much more difficult than running a 17.5.

With that said to win in 17.5 you have to drive like mad and make no mistakes and keep momentum up around all corners. With mod you have to stay in control and put down as much power as the chassis will hook up and not make mistakes.

Running a 150A xerun ESC and a 1900kv motor (2 x 2s 6.0AH 65C-130C Lipo). Would like to know if I were to run a high voltage servo, would a UBEC be necessary.

Thanks in advance

The stock BEC in the unit only puts out 6.v I think, so you could use an external BEC for higher voltage servos.
