The track is very much the only way to tell the different, not the ESC or motor...Hobbytown LITH is no REEDY TRACK, far from it (by the size I mean). I am no OFF ROAD driver and I can barely make a double double without flipping my car over....but I really think the ESC/setting and motor is doing the work, it is something else that you need to adjust in order to get you what you need at HT-LITH.

Talk to ppl like Mke Kochanski or Mike Frazer will definitely get you some idea about the ESC MOTOR setting.

I'm getting back into the Hobby and I've been looking around for Motor/ESC combos. I Saw that Jorn won the Reedy worlds in his two cars with speed passion motors so this piqued my interest. Looking at the Amain site, I found ESC/Motor combos surprisingly cheap. Am I looking at the right spot? Is there another company with the speed passion name that produces lesser quality products?

I'm going to start with 17.5. After coming from a tekin setup, I would love it if these products at their cheap price could still perform with the "big boys".

Any input as to this wont hurt my esc running this way?

I'm having some calibration issues with my GT 2.0 LPF, GT 2.0 pro and my DX3s. Throttle center seems to wander and is not consistent. I also had trouble in the last race with my lpf. My 2wd buggy would kick into full throttle at the end of a longer straight and I was not able to control it. It was almost like the esc hit it's boost RPM (I am not running any timing or boost) and shot out like a rocket?

Is this a DX3s problem? Do I need to change a setting somewhere? I'm going to try recalibrating the ESC to the radio and starting over with the default settings.

Thanks

I don't see how running blinky mod on your ESC with an 8.5 would hurt anything if the ESC can handle an 8.5 motor. Blinky mode from how I understand it just turns all the boosting etc. features off. In a way, it would be like running the motor with a plain jane ESC like a novak havoc for example (would have used a speed passion example but not sure which can handle that kind of motor).

Have you tried another radio setup? I remember having reception issues with my Spektrum gear where it would do what you are describing in a way. I went with a Futaba 4PL and they have gone away.

So I have both the GT2.0 LPF and GT2.0 Pro. I presume the software and settings are the same? If I haven't done any software changes, they should work identical if I set them with the same motors etc?

NOW, if I am running 2wd buggy and 4wd buggy, which would go where? Would the Pro be better suited for 4wd and the LPF better for 2wd? Also, for ESC settings, what changes would I need to make to the programming for each vehicle, i.e. Punch, timing etc?

Track would be indoor clay, high traction, bluegroove. straightway isn't super long, jumps are moderate, perhaps one large double with a 4-6ft gap.

No, I don't have another radio. I love Futaba gear. I fly helis and planks with a Futaba 7C, but I don't have the funds to try switching just to hope it fixes this. And Futaba receivers are expensive.

cm.stites 02-07-2012 07:41 PM

the 4pl radio us under 250$ and recievers are 49$ not anywhere as expensive as the other futaba recievers.. i would however try adding spektrums glitch buster.

Im anout 95% sure they are the same exact esc. You should use lpf for the 2wd

They'll both come with 205 mod installed. Try one of the setups from here.

does anyone know of a single capacitor that can be ran on the gt 2.0 esc's and the lpf's similator to tekin style. trying to save space on my next build but keep the esc functioning properly.

Hey guys. Can the GT 1.0 be updated with the same software as my gt 2.0?

Don't believe so. Neither can a 1.1.
