A bigger pinion is gonna give it punch?

cm.stites 01-29-2012 02:36 PM

smaller pinion/bigger spur will generally give you more torque if your looking for top end speed then bigger pinion.

Why did SP make the Cirtix Inspire V2.0 ESC a sensorless esc? Anyone running one, im havin a terrible time the brake settings? I have no brake and then all brake!

Which is why I didn't understand the need for a bigger pinion when im looking to clear some jumps out if a corner.

id try a bigger spur gear if possible. im not sure about blinky but doesnt it eliminate the timing and boost advancement?

Congrats to the multiple European champion JORN NEUMANN just won the 2012 REEDY RACE OF CHAMPION overall invitation class Champion.....powered by Speed Passion GT2 PRO ESC with MMM modified motor with his Durango DEX210.

Yes he did! And what a drive he put on this weekend!

Lee Martin and Hara both also with Speed Passion showed great strength all weekend.

No guarantees, but suggest at least trying a bigger pinion. Yes, I know all about gear ratios, goes against conventional wisdom… but given good batteries brushless motors really seem to respond to a lot of gear, don’t seem to bog easily like one would expect. Especially with blinky-no timing. Remember you said going down hurt. Just watch temps, might have to avoid long practice runs.

Of course carrying better speed through the corner helps too! lol Please update us on whatever you find out.

Give it a try....still lacking punch got to a bigger spur for sure and try it again

AlanHall 01-29-2012 06:55 PM

I appreciate the help and am definitely give it a shot. It makes since to me just cause I think it will hook up better. Wouldn't a bigger spur resemble trying a smaller pinion?

Dave H 01-29-2012 08:08 PM

Correct Alan. It’s just the spur divided by the pinion. No magic in a big spur.

Anyone running the Speed Passion GT2.0 Pro in 4x4 SCT? If so, please give me your opinions and what you have done (if anything) to get it to work on 2S with a 550 motor like a 4.5 or 5.5 .

I would also like to hear some opinions on the Silver Arrow 2 on 4S with a 1900 - 2200 Kv motor in 1/8 buggy.

Ok I need a little help please. I have a new GT prostock v2.1 and with the card I truned all the timing off but I don't see any blinking lites. How do I get it to prove its in blinky mode?

Thanks

Lenman73 01-30-2012 03:43 PM

I may have figured this out. i have to get the other card and use the pc from what I gathered. But for right now with all the timing off is it the same as it would be if the lite was blinking?
