the incubus 09-26-2014 12:04 PM

Yeah talk about a Let's Make A Deal moment, but new info came my way a day in between that post and today. However, I did say I love my Speed Passion stuff so I in no way said anything disparaging about their products and only shared information I learned about issues I think everyone would like to know.

Outside of the single Rev Pro unit, all of my SP stuff has been absolutely perfect and I am not alone, but if QC and CS begin to decline I think it would be better to invest in another brand rather than take a gamble on a product that might not work and then have to wait a very long time for them to rectify the issue or refund my money.

The biggest issue for me is the internal politics that resulted in the founder of the company no longer being affiliated with the brand of products he founded, which usually doesn't bode well moving forward.

In 2011 SAAB announced there was trouble looming but people still bought their cars thinking it was just an over exaggerating the situation, only to find out in 2012 they would cease operations for good and with very little warning. That's the kind of situation I would prefer to avoid. Granted, it's nowhere near the same ballpark in terms of monetary investment, but it is an investment nonetheless.

i have tried a new sensor wire and different motors.

This has happened to my 8.5t v3 revention combo in my B4.1 any ideas whats going on? I disassembled the motor and didn't see anything obvious. Is the ESC the culprit? Is the stock timing 0 degrees?

Cheers

Sounds like the sensor in the esc is bad.

Rc-007 09-28-2014 01:21 AM

the manual for the sp gt 2.0 pro esc says it can handle down to a 2.5t motor. Can it handle a 4x4 sct motor like a 4000 or 4700kv 4 pole 540?

Its the ESC. Had this happen to a new Revention R. Its the board inside the ESC. Sent it in and they replaced it. Went on FaceBooks SpeedPower site and did a RMA return merchandise authorization request. Think I had to contact them thru Their Chat area to get any relief. Their Customer Service is not to good. Almost non-existence.
Good Luck,

Stock0 Blinky question: why is DDRS still available in "blinky" mode. Isn't DDRS timing?

*updated*

I think of it more like "Launch control" over Timing.

*another term is "punch". As I understand it, when you start from dead throttle and pull the trigger, how quickly it accelerates and that initial burst.

DRRS some refer to as "how much punch" you want. It is different than ESC timing that is used in Modified.

Hi,
I have an older citrix stock spec esc and I am wondering if there is a way to turn up the brakes on it. I don't have a program box for it and I can't find any documentation that shows another way to program it.

I know there isn't much you can adjust on this spec controller but I sm hoping I can at least turn the brakes up. It's almost like there are no brakes. Thanks in advance for any help.

Can you say that DDRS does not raise the top end speed?

A motor's top speed is limited by it's turn (aka kv rating) and timing. The DDRS is how hard the throttle hits. Setting 1 is softer (for loose, low grip conditions) where 10 is balls out.

I have the Reventon R with a 17.5 V3 MMM motor, in my Associated B5M. I ran the buggy for the first time this weekend, just doing some gearing and temp tuning for next weekends race, and am wondering what has been working for others.
I'm running the 72 spur with a 33 pinion, and maxed out at 20* on the motor with the stock 0 profile. After a 5 minute run, I have barely broke 120 degrees. With 11 degrees timing, it was 110*. Now, the overall speed was good, and had plenty of punch to make tight turns yet still clear the doubles, I am just wondering if I gear up even higher, will I lose some of that low end torque? Maybe just running 120* is fine, and I should leave it alone too. Just curious what has worked for others in a similar set up.

Where you running? Trackside?

In any case sounds like you have the lower timing board inside the motor. The most popular setup for that motor is a green timing board set in about the middle. A lot of guys have done well using that. You could run even closer to 150deg if you wanted, but I'd still gear according to how the buggy is handling the jumps and coming out of corners.

HI Nexus,
Not yet, hope to hit Trackside in the next few weeks. This is at a real nice indoor track up around Kiel, Innovative Hobbies. Just a tick shorter than Trackside. This quarters layout is more high speed then technical. I will order that timing board and do some testing with that as well. Thanks!
