He claimed you guys needed bank account info to verify his purchase. He didnt want to provide it and told you guys to keep the motor.

I figure he was full of hot air. He was trying to sell me his losi xxx sct which had a viper esc and a traxxas vxl motor. Thats how we got to talking.

Viper R/C Solutions' VST Black Edition sensored brushless motors are your solution for smooth and efficient performance, durability, versatility and quality. Available in a wide range of turns from 3.5T to 21.5T, the Black Edition motors are with completely redesigned all aluminum structure for lighter weight (10% lighter than last gen VST), higher overall performance (15~20% more RPM than last gen VST), vented motor can, and the wide range of tuning rotors.

Available now at shopviperrc.com
hmm, interesting. I just had to re-sub this thread after seeing that motor being tested locally. I was told that these are quick and run coolish. I do have to state the obvious...looks kinda like a reedy . Kinda funny since the rumor going around is that viper makes the new reedy esc.

Reedy black box looks like an orion clone. However the can on the reedy mach 2 and the black edition viper do strike interest into this theory.

You might want to take a look at the Muchmore Fleta ZX and Reds Racing VX 540 series motors, and also check the curent Yokomo Racing Performer M series. Most probably all these motors are made in one and the same production facility to the specifications of the individual rc brands. If these specifications are the same and e.g. a Viper 7.5T is exactly the same as a Sonic Mach2 7.5T will remain a mystery to us, unless someone buys a sample of each one and compares them on a test bench.
To be honest, I am happy about Viper joining the club as I wanted to try their stuff anyway. I've got a Reds Racing 8.5T, and this thing is hands down the best motor I ever had. Very smooth power delivery and as fast as you'd expect from an 8.5T motor. It is quite possible that I'll put a Viper into my stadium truck soon, the Orion VST2 10.5 is just a little too slow.

Just a word on the new motors. I've been running the 17.5 in my B5M for about a month now. Just as fast if not faster than anything on the track. Geared at 69/30, with about 35 degrees of can timing. Comes off at 140ish after a 6 minute run. No fade in performance and super smooth the entire run.

yes, he case on the reedy esc looks like a Orion/HW. But the software reminded me of the viper software. After talking to a few people, the confirmed that Viper is making the Reedy Black box. But, since no one from either company has or will confirm it, it will remain a rumor. But if Viper is making the Black box, then kudos to them. Reedy would make an excellent partner.

Questions??

I just noticed that the German Viper RC distributor is no longer listed on the Viper RC website. Will there be a new distributor anytime soon?

mes- we got to the point in our growth we couldn't keep adding shops and distributors to the website. The guy simply wouldnt update it ep fast enough for us.

Motor question - it is not a clone of the reedy or Orion motors. But there are only so many ways to make a good ham sandwich - so everything is going to be similar to some extent.

Esc rumors- pretty sure AE has said its not a HW/Orion publicly.

Actually, they did. Rick from reedy posted that it was not a hobbywing. I think that is all they have said on the matter. Dont try to distract me Nick
