Thanks. I'm a longtime Viper guy... Yes, this is for my son's Tekin. I was considering the viper caps as they would allow for a real nice/tidy install. I think before I do, I'll just add another cap to his existing esc and see if he can tell any difference. Thanks for the info.

I'm more anal. I re-calibrate every time I change motors. Do I need to? probably not but it's just something I started doing a while back.

I recalibrate every time I pig-handedly choose the wrong model on my transmitter and wonder why nothing then works.

Hahaha, the expression on your face when we were talking about it afterwards was priceless. I was just happy that I wasn't the only person who did dumb stuff like that

with A64 - profile 2, set the brakes how you like them, adjust punch to control wheel spin (less is better). Vent holes always help in 4wd, I have even backed off physically timing in motor before to give little better control.

To answer the cap question from the other page --
Yes adding more caps does help the system - will make everything a bit more efficient and provide little extra power when getting on the throttle. There is a limit with battery size. Example on 2s, really don't need more than our Pro6 pack -- but we have done it before.

Calibration -
Anytime esc is used with new or different receiver, its a good idea. Shouldn't make a difference with motors - think Bob has little OCD -

Viper VTX10 gearing for DEX210

In case anyone googles this, I ran my DEX210v1 last weekend with the VTX10 ESC and 8.5 turn combo. 78 tooth spur and 23 tooth pinion. 15 degrees Celsius outside, the motor came off the track at under 100 degree f without timing and the ESC at 86f.

Tempted to screw around with timing since I have ample heat to play with, but I can't use all the speed as is, and as it is a loose track, I certainly don't want any more torque. Runs nice and cool, even without a built in fan. Might just leave it as is.

lol sounds like what I was getting close to gearing on my end of things using a 10.5 in my dex 210. I have to see what gearing I am at but I was basically cool to the touch, no timing.

Deven - if you can't put the power down, don't try to add timing. Sure the theory is the motor will run faster (it will), but if you don't have any control, it will not help you. Focus on the chassis, get more grip -- use the power you can't right now before you try to add more.
