Any idea when the VTX-10BE will be back in stock?

I asked Nick the same question last week. He said all CNC machines are currently tied up making motors.

yeah guys I was in the same dilemma. I needed a new ESC for my truck. I grabbed the reg VTX10 (orange one) and with the improvements in A55, you won't be disappointed. If you are in need of an ESC right now, I suggest that one. I will be grabbing an 'R' for my 22-4 when I get back from Ohio next month.

Yes, its part of the way the system is waterproofed. Wouldn't really recommend taking it off. Live the Orange -- Love the Orange!!!

That is the reason i asked before attempting to remove it. I just wanted to try and black my car completely out.

Speaking of orange - to let the cat out of the bag for those that didn't know or learn from me previously....

The original color VTX10 and VTX10R unit have been updated over the years as we learned by making the Black Edition. Buying a VTX10 or VTX10R now is like buying a Black Edition - they are as similar as they can be made, except for the color on the case. Newer style even come with the pig tail capacitors, its just a more efficient way to make the units works.

So don't worry about buying orange, its the latest and greatest as well. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I have been running my orange vtx10 in mod 2wd buggy since the end of last year and it has been excellent. Have a orange vtx10r in my 44.2 and it as well has been great.

I plan on picking up an 8th scale buggy after Christmas, and am expecting to put a VTX8 in it. My question is if the Progauge card I have for my VTX10 will work to program the VTX8? What is the difference between the EZ Link and the Progauge, or are they the same thing with a new name?

yup, they all work across all the Viper ESC platforms.

EZ Link is just the programmer. Progauge has the battery voltmeter and server checker. Just another option to save everyone a couple bucks.

So what is the difference between the vtx10 and the black edition besides the case color? How would you know if you had the latest vtx10 esc?

Is the software updateable in the vtx10 or tje the black edition?

Great, thanks for the info Bob Barry. One more question: there is a reviewer in the VTX8 page of Amain that says there is problems with the esc and "high voltage" servos. Does anyone have experience with the esc and this Protek servo:

Is the problem (if there is one) due, perhaps, to running 7.4 V as opposed to 6V?

Just the color of the case. All the good stuff is already inside. You can update both the VTX10/R and VTX10/R- BE by downloading the appropriate software from the Viper website. The software is model specific...so one version is for the VTX10/R and the other is for all Black Edition models. (You will also need the vLink connector)

Update: Saturday was our track's Toys for Tots race and we had a great day of racing. Cole's VTX8/VF8 1900 powered RC8.2e was Q3 for the B, which he won, then he laid down 10 minutes of clean laps and took home the Win! We love the smooth power of this combination and it is a proven winner. More details on our facebook page.

The VTX8 has variable SBEC/servo voltage, which can be programmed via the ProGauge or V-Link on your laptop. The servo voltage is entirely independent of the input voltage provided by the battery.

You can run any steering servo on any voltage up to 7.0 volts via the VTX8. Of course, the higher the voltage, the faster and hotter the servo will operate, which could lead to premature failure.

The software is model specific but not in the way you described.

The VTX10 and VTX10 BE take the same software
The VTX10R and VTX10R BE take the same software
VTX1 and VTX8 each have their own software.
