Anyone have a good base line for settings? I'll be running a 13.5 (open class)in my RB5 on an indoor carpet track. Here is a look at the temporary layout, but you get the idea of the size. It may look a little rough, but the track was just expanded 36 hrs ago...lol throttle punch - 100% throttle pwm - 5000hz throttle curve - linear acceleration start rpm - 5500 acceleration finish rpm - 15000 acceleration max adv timing - 30* top speed slew rate - 10*/1000rpm top speed max adv timing - 20* Set drag brake for your personal preference, average tends to be 10-25% neutral brake. I run 12% dynamic brake in mod for additional high speed brake with a 12000rpm trigger rpm (this may be too much dynamic drag brake for 13.5 boosted). Regards to thermal temp settings: 230* on the motor and esc should be very safe for the electronics but I don't think you'll thermal unless something goes wrong. |
Cactus Classic update
Sorry I haven't been able to update yet from the Cactus, the internet once again at this hotel is very inconsistent and AT&T doesn't seem to have my back with phone internet service .
Practice has been going very well for Team Viper, I have been able to update our Facebook page several times so make sure to check that out. I shot some short run videos of Billy Fischer running some laps and will try to get that up tomorrow. All our equipment has been running strong :D Fischer is running 2wd mod, 4wd mod, and 4wd SCT mod. His 10R and prototype VST 4.5XL is top fuel and going hard, as well as all other cars too. Andrew Smolnik is running 13.5 2wd, 13.5 4wd, and 17.5 2wd. All his equipment is running fast :) Mike Garrison's gear is also running very quick. Richard Miller made it today for controlled practice and started getting some laps in too. Qualifying starts bright and early tomorrow, it's going to be a loong day. Keep an eye on Facebook/Twitter during the day tomorrow for qualifying updates on our team drivers. Time to get some sleep now! |

Jamie, try this set up:
Gearing: 22/80 with 2.6 gearbox motor can timing: 20 degrees Throttle pwn freq: 2500 throttle punch: 100 throttle curve: linear motor power: start rpm: 4000 finish rpm: 15000 Max adv timing: 50 No top speed timing(turbo) Set all other settings to your liking. with this set-up I set a single fastest lap and track record on a track that is close the this size. Jamie, leave the 78 spur on and use it. 80 Is the lowest I can go on my car. If I could get a 78 to fit, I would use it.

James, I do not know what settings you are using on that sight but everytime I put in the setting it tells me that I am way under geared. Also that site WILLL NOT take E.S.C. settings into account. You also need to concider that with a short track you need punch More then top speed.

Just a note for the team guys discussing ESC settings on the VTX10's. All the units out in the field right now are engineering samples. They are not production - so the way you got them with settings might be a little random depending on if they were bench tested or whatever.
The production units will come with a base line setting that can be used right out of the package. More news on that to come as we get closer to official release.

Jamie, here are the settings we're running for 13.5 boosted at the Cactus:
throttle punch - 100% throttle pwm - 5000hz throttle curve - linear acceleration start rpm - 5500 acceleration finish rpm - 15000 acceleration max adv timing - 30* top speed slew rate - 10*/1000rpm top speed max adv timing - 20* Set drag brake for your personal preference, average tends to be 10-25% neutral brake. PS: I would be more than happy to test an SC motor. :D |

Quick update from Round 1 qualifying (I apologize, I don't know everyone one on the western part of the team so I apologize if I miss someone):
17.5 Buggy - Andrew 2nd 13.5 Buggy - Andrew 3rd 13.5 4wd - Andrew 4th Mike was about 18th in one of the 2wd classes, but the screen cleared for round 2 before I could write it down. Weylin said he had an OK run in 2wd Mod - he thought about 27th. BTW - Viper is the title sponsor of the SC Stock class!!!!!! |
Sounds like a great showing. Keep it up guys!!
|
Good Luck fellow Viper Teammates at the Cactus!.......Show em what we have!!!!!!!!!:nod:
|
Here are some Viper results from Round 2 at Cactus.
17.5 Buggy - Andrew Smolnick TQ's!!!! 13.5 Buggy - Andrew 3rd Mike 19th 2wd Mod - Billy Fischer 9th 4wd SC - Billy 3rd Viper SC Pro Light (17.5) - Mike 14th 4wd 13.5 - Andrew 3rd |
Rock on Rollin Thunder
|
Where is Weilyn sitting in Mod?
|
The way they have he standings listed he's like 41st. But I think they did fastest run not qual points. Its weird because in 17.5 2wd. Andrew has a TQ and a 2nd and the guy that TQ'd round one had a DNS in round 2, but he is listed as fastest.
Anyway, more qualifying today. When I got a text from Weylin yesterday he said he was really focusing on the others guys stuff. Fingers are crossed for today!!! |
