All the Viper motors should have adjustable mechanical timing on the motor. If you look at the endbell, and the letter "B" is directly underneath the middle solder tab then your motor is set to 0 degrees of mechanical timing. Also if you look near the endbell you should see laser engraved timing markings. Some early motors did make it out of the factory without these but they were mostly mod. I think all the stock motors have them.

You can adjust the mechanical timing by loosening the endbell screws and rotating the endbell.

If I misspoke, Weylin will correct me. However that's been my experience.

I understand that-what I am saying... is Novak and LRP motors are set at 0 degrees timing from factory, but have 30 degrees built into the motor already.

I just sent my contract in and am waiting on my first order to arrive then I will be able to start playing with it and figuring it out then...

Anthony.L 12-31-2010 05:28 PM

Yeah well you got me there. Only thing I've ever seen/known is you set the endbell and that's the timing. I've never heard of "other" timing built into the motor.

Sorry-didnt mean to come off as rude.

But thats why with Tekin Speedo's you cant run a ton of boost or timing in LRP or Novak motors, because its already there... without you knowing it lol.

I am sure as soon as Weylin fills my first order he will get to my mundane questions.

Anthony.L 12-31-2010 05:47 PM

No, not at all. It's a good question, and I as well as others I'm sure are interested to hear the answer.

D4, weren't you running MuffDawg motors?

Dlewis4 01-02-2011 02:27 PM

I am now running Viper RC.

Good for you, That other guy is not on my buddy list....

These Viper motors are nice.

When I talked with Novak Two on this forum he said the Novak motors had 30 degrees of factory timing but that don't mean its the same as another brands 30 degrees. Not every company measures the timing the same way so they do vary.

Not sure what my new Viper is set as. I wanted to look today but got to the trac late today and just forgot about it.:D

Hmm... not much activity up in these parts... guys must be too busy selling it!

As far as I know every 1/10 brushless race motor has 30* built in timing. Some brands consider this 30* starting position to be "zero" at default, other companies such as our Viper VST motors label default timing with the actual 30*.

That is mostly correct Anthony, when the letter "B" is directly under the center solder tab that is default timing, but it is in fact 30* due to the built in timing most 1/10 motors have. We did have a few early modified winds that made it out without the laser engraved timing marks, but the majority of those have gone to our team drivers. Every production spec wind we've sent has full timing marks, as well as 100% of the motors in stock now.

Sorry for my delay Alan, I just sent you an email back. Like I said earlier I've been out of the office and very busy with the holidays. Thanks for your patience!

Dlewis4 01-04-2011 11:25 AM
