Me too:) wish I can test if it's better than Novak Sct motor! It's really smooth!

note to all drivers using the "Vtrax" speedo,, dont forget to set your thermal protection levels in the speedo,, had mine set at the default which was 160 on the motor and just squeaked above it and shut me down in the main,, i was running 17.5 boosted in a B4.1 buggy, Geared 28/75,, running it very hard against MOD buggys,, and yes it was faster than 8.5 buggy's everywhere on the trak!!

Steve,If you get these figured out you will kick ass

Just got my " Vtrax" ESC and ProGauge. Sweet!!!!

Anyone have a good base line for settings? I'll be running a 13.5 (open class)in my RB5 on an indoor carpet track. Here is a look at the temporary layout, but you get the idea of the size. It may look a little rough, but the track was just expanded 36 hrs ago...lol

13.5 esc set-up

Jamie, try this set up:

Gearing: 22/80 with 2.6 gearbox
motor can timing: 20 degrees
Throttle pwn freq: 2500
throttle punch: 100
throttle curve: linear

motor power:
start rpm: 4000
finish rpm: 15000
Max adv timing: 50

No top speed timing(turbo)

Set all other settings to your liking.
with this set-up I set a single fastest lap and track record on a track that is close the this size.

This is good advise. However when I received my set-up, I found that all of the setting where set diffently then what everybody else had. I would say take a look at ALL settings And adjust them accordenly.

Thanks Reuben!!

I just got the buggy. It is used but in GREAT shape. It has the 78T spur gear on it now. I don't have an 80T. I can get one, but don't know if I'll have time before I race next.

ohiostatechamp 03-17-2011 09:21 AM

Jamie, leave the 78 spur on and use it. 80 Is the lowest I can go on my car. If I could get a 78 to fit, I would use it.

If you want the same gearing you need to figure out the FDR or final drive ratio. Then you can just adjust the pinion size and you will be good to go.

FDR is calculated by: Internal ratio X (spur teeth/Pinion teeth) = FDR

For the about mentioned gears you get 2.6 X (80/22) = 9.45
Assuming your internal ratio is the same then to achieve 9.45 with a 78 spur you would need a 21 tooth pinion to get close FDR would be 9.66.

Jamie James 03-17-2011 11:21 AM

That FDR is way off from the recommended FDR from an online gearing site I use.

They don't have a Viper option

ohiostatechamp 03-17-2011 12:29 PM

James, I do not know what settings you are using on that sight but everytime I put in the setting it tells me that I am way under geared. Also that site WILLL NOT take E.S.C. settings into account. You also need to concider that with a short track you need punch More then top speed.

I need a speed control for 17.5 and modified, which viper will I use?
