You can safely bump the cutoff up more. I think mine is around 220. The cutoff measures internal temp, not external.

I think I have my ESC at 200 and my motor at 230.
the temp sensor is from my understanding at the rotor, and the rotor temp can be 30 to 50* hotter then the temp you may read on the can with a IR gun, etc.

jpk- check lights on VPort. If they are working (red light full throttle orange light full brake) make sure bullet connectors are making good connection. If light is flashing green - it can't find neutral on your radio. Move throttle trim a little and re-calibrate.

You guys had the right idea about the temps. The cut off settings are a security blanket. Always try to check with a temp gun if you can.

How good of a driver are you and are you and what sort of track do you run on? I have run 13.5 and 10.5 in my XXX-SCT both boosted and weyant's son run's an 8.5. For the open class we run the 13.5 was a bit too little even boosted...the 10.5 wasn't bad and the 8.5 I am sure is fine.

For reference I placed 3rd in this race with the 10.5 and it wasn't the motor holding me back (as you can see), Brexton (the winner) is weyant's son and won the race with the 8.5.

I consider myself a very good driver, just new to the electric stuff.I've been racing nitro cars for 13 years and started with 2wd gas truck. But when you start looking at all the different brushless motors it can be a little overwhelming.so you think the 8.5 will be more than enough.seems easier to tame one down rather than trying to get more out of a motor.

well I hate to say it but the 7.5 in Brexton weyant's sc10 2wd is still ahavin heat issues spent 3 hours at track today tryin all kinds of different things with no luck 630 to 7 min and then it would motor temp cutoff...raised the motor cutoff from 190 to 200 to 210 no difference at all. temped at 160 to 170 external. Tyler our local pro helped a lot with ideas and he ran it for me too.. setting are

Throttle freq 12000 and we tried 8000
punch 70%
break strength 70%
Freq 4000 and we tried 6400
trigger RPM 12000
forward power 70%

NO BOOST
No endbell timing

Default Is it any good

Is the viper rc solutions vtx-xxl 4.5t motor good for a tlr scte 2.0 cus i'm getting one and was deciding weather the tekin or a viper. I already own a viper system and love it but will that 2 pole 550 size motor be enough for the tlr scte 2.0????
