Hi guys,

Have mounted my vtx8 and have a slight issue in that it mounts on the top of my car and is so tall it touches the body roof.

The body still sits ok but was wondering:

1. What thread are the screws holding the fan unit on? They look maybe 3.5mm? I am thinking Incould find some with a shallower head

2. Would it be worth me adding some thin sponge to the body to provide at least a little give?

On a drag brake setting what is normal percentage for the masses. On an LRP SXX we usually run at a 2 setting with 10 being the highest.

Last night my son ran it for a short time, ran good, 40 degree on the motor in profile 3. On the pro gauge once i set it to profile 3 can i also change the drag brake or do i have to start a custom profile?

He got hit hard and then lawn darted into a double and popped the solder. Going to re solder tonight with new solder station. So far other than solder and getting use to pro gauge not a bad set up.

Crude- on the drag brake, if you work on a percentage scale it would be about 20 on ours. But always try a few different settings to see what you like. And every profile can be customized. If you ever want to reset the profile, you just reflash the software via the VLink. Just need to purchase the PCLink cable to plug into a computer.

Dave- not sure the exact size of the screw, thinking 3mm- maybe just some tape over the body to keep it from scratching the paint off. That's a personal kind of choice.

Kane- nice, good luck

What I've done in the past is set the profile that most suits my needs, then adjust the individual settings. Then save it as a new profile, thereby not overwriting the standard profile. You can always reload the original profile if you want, and have the new profile as well.

and as others have stated drag brake is going to be different for everybody. Some people don't use any, others I've seen as high as 30%

Hi. I currently run a viper 5150kv motor and copperhead esc. I have it in a tekno sct410 with 5900mah 60c lipos. Several times when i was racing last week the esc would quit putting power to the motor. My steering still worked but the throttle was non responsive. The about a minute later the throttle would come back and i could continue my race. I think i have it narrowed down to two things. I believe the copperhead esc has something in the software that when it thinks the motor has a seized bearing or the drivetrain is locked up that it will stop giving it power. Another possibility is that my lipos are momentarily dropping below lvc because of amp draw. It is not themalling because it would come off the track at about 120 degrees. For the main i dropped the lvc to 3.1 volts and it didnt cut out but i may have not been pushing it as hard. I was on a tq pace twice but was set back when this happened. any ideas

A few people in the sc410 thread have moved to 7200 mah packs because of run time issues. Most run at least 6600, I would bet your hitting lvc. Especially if this normally happened towards the end of your runs.

nikos2002 02-14-2013 12:06 PM

Yep, seems like your hitting LVC, batteries can make a difference sometimes lowering Punch and Timing slightly can help as well.

I have just ordered a vtx8 for my also newly ordered EB48, along with a Tekin 1900kv. I hope it serves me well.

A question for those of you that have the VTX8: Exactly how long is the cable going from the ESC to the V-Port/On-off switch?

Cannot measure mine as it is now mounted and tucked away nicely, but 4 inches is my best estimate.

Ok, thanks. But I really do need an exact measurement. Anyone else?

I had this same question about choosing between the VTX1 and VTX10 black series as well. Sounds like the VTX1 has the advantage in being lighter then? I like how the caps are mounted on the speedo for a cleaner look. If there is not really any difference in BECs, then would the VTX1 be suitable for my SC10 2wd? Is the only main difference the way the external caps are wired?

I never got an answer from Viper about this question? Please let me know so I can place an order soon! :D

Wildcat1971 02-16-2013 06:36 AM

vtx1 is 1 cell capable. The bec steps the voltage up for the servos. otherwise they are the same.
