Im gonna be getting the Copperhead 540 system for my 55 chevy oval machine.
Does it come with the pro-gauge in the box or do I have to buy one?
If it doesnt have it in the box I'll surely buy one.

It's a separate purchase.

vtx1 is 1 cell capable. The bec steps the voltage up for the servos. otherwise they are the same.

I don't know much about bec. Will the vtx1 be more than sufficient for an Associated SC10 2wd with an Ace DS1015 servo?

New to viper and just installed a vtx4 esc. Is the fan suppose to run all the time?

When was the VTX1 released?

godofcable 02-16-2013 01:33 PM

wanted to ask you guys if you experienced something similar to what I'm seeing

VTX8, 2150 kv Tenshock x812 motor, running on 4S.

At low speeds, everything is fine, I'd say up to half throttle. Then when I try to pull more trigger, the motor starts to bog. At first I thought it was a diff issue, some kind of drag on the system, but them i took the motor out to spin the drivetrain by hand and it was fine, so I powered it up with the motor away from the spur and it happens even then. you can hear/feel the motor knock.

The speedo wants more power than the battery will give it, you need real strong batteries.

i tried three different sets of batts, 40C, 50C, and 60C. Did it with all of them.

i'm going to try resoldering the motor wires. I'm wondering if one of them has a bad joint, and when its trying to pull more amperage the one wire isn't getting enough so thats what is causing the chattering.

Try another sensor cable even if you think the one you have is good.

Ok before I sell these two viper setups I just bought I am going to ask here what I need to do first.
I have 2 vtx10 and vst 17.5 combos. One is in a AE sc10 and the other in a B4.1. My track runs 17.5 blinky class. These two cars are the slowest in the feild i am geared correctly 75/29 at 150* in the sc10 and 69/35 at 145* in the b4.1. Are there any esc changes I need to make and still stay in blinky that will make it faster? Btw I put a reedy sonic 17.5 in place of the viper vst17.5 and it hauled the mail. End bell timing on both vipers at 45* thanks

What are your esc settings?

Wildcat1971 02-18-2013 12:08 PM

So one of my motors killed one of my esc's (not viper). Not really sure what happened, it was working, put it on the track, my kid pulled the trigger and nothing. The motor wires and battery wires go so hot the shrink tube split. So now the esc and motor are dead. My question is, does the VTX have protection against the motor failing and taking out the esc like what happened to my non viper esc. It seems to me that a motor can fail rather easily since my GM showed no sighs. it ran room temp and a max of 110 deg and yet it failed. the bearing were good, but my guess is the rotor failed and esc kept trying to turn it and burned its self up. So again, does the vtx10 offer protection from this?

I don't (personal experience) think viper blinky is like other esc's blinky mode. In fact I have to have esc/motor timing in order to keep up w/ my 17.5. But I love the esc and it's adjustability. If someone is checking that you are in blinky then I don't think there is a way to get it to hang.
