in the summer i turned the can timing down on my VST XL 4.5 in my SCTE to 15*.
here in texas running in 100*+ weather the motor was running very hot and through testing i discovered that turning down the timing from 30* to 15* let it run almost 10* cooler over the same period of time with only a minor decrease in speed/power.

Whats a good combo of motor and esc timing. I notice the motor comes with 30 degrees what would be different if the motor was just zero and the esc added 30degrees?
Im guessing its sort of like getting a camshaft for a car with some timing added then being able to also up the timing in the ecm.

I know of one hi profile AE driver who prefers 20 Deg with more gearing vs 30 deg and lower gearing base on how it "feels" in 2wd Buggy. Says the 20 degree setup is a little smoother out of the corner on slick tracks (he is running Reedy / LRP of course) but I have been temped to test this myself.

Got my truck back together cause I had the trans apart waiting on bearings. The steering does definitely glitch in reverse a little its not a huge deal but just odd?? I had issues with a longer then normal pause between forward and reverse so I recalibrate the remote to the esc and now I notice the reverse glitching.
Any one ever run into that? I go have a glitch buster maybe I should try without it.
Unhooking the glitchbuster did not help

Hey folks I just got a vtx10r, 17.5, and programming card from our buy/sell/trade section here.
I have it set to profile #4 (17.5 boost) and did all the calibrations with my remote.
When I hit the power, it acts like it's bouncing on a rev-limiter at full throttle.
I have a new sensor wire on it and all esc wires are secure and soldered correctly.
Any ideas on what could be causing that? Sorry if this has been asked before, it's late and I didn't want to read through 444 pages

Robby, you might want to check the settings as well to make sure they are not set too high for boost timing, etc as well -- 17.5 you need to be careful how you set those parameters.
JJay, the times I have run reverse I never noticed a "glitch" make sure all your connection are solid even the receiver plugs. There is a delay built in with the reverse and forward, reverse is just an option and not one normally used in competition - which was the design premise of the devices.
taztel, we did test with e-truggy during development, if I remember right Gabriel won a race up in Maine with it, but we couldn't talk about it, because it wasn't available yet. If you get the VTX8 with the progauge you are set, just need whatever battery connectors you are using, a solder iron and few minutes to set it up.

I've been making adjustments all morning and this is the best I've come up with....I have another 10R that doesn't do this and it has the identical settings... any clues?
The settings are in the description...

Robby, I apologize if I missed this somewhere but did you try a different motor with speed control? Try that motor on your older 10R and see if it all reacts the same.
Watching the video makes me think motor problem.
