You guys got it! Recalibrate is the way to go.

BTW, how many hours are you guys running to be to LVC like that? Yes the system will take power closer you get to LVC, to protect the system.

Here is the link to the instructions for you to print and take to the track with you: http://www.viper-rc.com/downloads/Co...nual%20A01.pdf

3. Radio/ESC throttle calibration
Every VIPER Copperhead ESC needs to run radio calibration process when it is brand new out of the package, switching radio system, changing a new ESC profile or after firmware update. Process is as easy as the following steps after all wires and battery connector are properly connected.
a) Connect a proper/charged battery pack to the ESC.
b) Power on the transmitter with the throttle at neutral and throttle trim was centered.
c) Leave the throttle on the transmitter at neutral, press and hold the red power button on the V-PORT for three seconds. (Followed by beep tone from the motor, F/N LED on the V-PORT will be indicated as the image at right)
d) Pull full throttle and hold, while holding press the red power button once. (Followed by beep tone, N/R LED will be indicated as the image shown at right.)
e) Push full brake and hold, while holding press the red power button once. (Followed by beep tone, all LED’s will cycle.)

Hey guys my slash Valineon motor finally died with the magnet issue. So I'm on the hunt for a new motor/esc.

It's for a slash 4x4 with an ssc chassis, we bash on makeshift tracks but will soon be getting into a bit of proper track work, would you recommend the 4500k combo http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...r-Combo-4500kV or the 3900k 540 combo http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...r-Combo-3900kV

Also, what gearing combo should I begin with?

Thanks,

Toby

I run the 4500 with 15/54 in my ssc slash, good speed and temps.

I can run quite awhile if the pack is full never timed it tho. I been trying to get all the run time I can since im new to the game. My last run yesterday was quick b/c my wife wanted to leave so I went out with 7.8v and that really did not last long at all but I didnt expect much there.

I am having a problem with my power fading off and can't clear jumps after about a min or less in my desc410. I am running a vtx10r be with vst 550 4.5 with revtech 5500 mah 65c lipos. I have tried a few different esc settings so I don't think that's the problem. I have my punch at 100% throttle freq 12000. I tried different gearing and motor timing. My temps are fine after a 8 min main my esc will be about 160 and my motor 170. I have no motor temp cut off and my esc is at 240. I am not hitting lipo cut off I am at 7.5v after a 5 min race.

I am thinking its my motor or my batteries. I have 2 sets of batteries its the same with eather set. It was so frustrating this Sat at a local club race I was having problems clearing a triple that I should be able to over jump. I was in third in the main and just could not catch the top 2 with me packing that triple most of the time. But I did beat 2 teknos driven by some pretty fast local guys

Any ideas??

One tip might be to lower your throttle frequency. The higher the # the softer it will feel.

The lowest I went was 8000 I run 12000 or 16000 normally. I think my motor is worn out I have raced it 4 to 7 times a month for about 8 months. In the.summer it would come off the track at about 180 every time never hit over 190.

Throw a new rotor in it an see. Hitting 180 every race is a little high. I bet you rotor has lost some of it's magnetism. The motor will continue to get hotter as it loses more strength.

Yeah 180 is a little higher than I would like it but in the summer here it gets in the hundreds can't really get around getting that hot. I looked for the rotor for 4.5 550 and could not find it. I will call viper tomorrow and see if they sell them.

Spider - maybe start around 13 and check temps and performance to adjust.

Hyper - yes, I agree with Jim, if your putting that much temp on the motor for that many months at the very least a new rotor would help. You would be surprised. There are guys from other mfgs who change rotors every race day to keep max performance. Hopefully we are not that crazy yet.

Does the esc start to slow the truck down when it gets near the 6.4v? Just wondering cause it got pretty slow around 6.7 or so.
Man Im running a 9.5 viper with 18/87 in blinky, motor set at factory setting, profile 2, and Im getting 170+ temps after 6 mins. Thoughts on that? Too high?
