(He had some issues previously and Viper did replace the system for free with no issues and he sold the combo to me!)

Advanced timing 35 (never went over)

Boost starts at 7000RPM and finish at 35000RPM

Had Protection setting On...
Motor Temp cutoff was 220
ESC Temp cutoff was 220

Thanks

Will he give you the receipt?

Ok I'll ask again...should I use the 4500kv or the 5150kv for an SCTE?

I don't run 4wd SCT so I can't say which. I'll see if one of the other guys can recommend one for you though.

if your talking about the 4500 copperhead motor than I would go with that. Unless you are just bashing, but racing I would go 4500

Yes racing, sorry I should have said that and yes the copperhead motor. I run on a large indoor track(The Ohio RC Factory). Does the 4500 have a smoother low end? I try to be smooth on and off the trigger.

I will be honest with you, When I ran the scte for just the 2 races I raced it in, our track has roughly a 110 foot straight, there were others truck running the rx8 with the 4600 tekin setup none of them seemed to have anymore power than I did. For the money IMO people are crazy to run the rx8 setup over the copperhead. To me it felt like I was running a e buggy with just just a tad less power. Viper makes great products. I cant wait to get a vtx8 when outdoor starts back up here

Wildcat1971 01-07-2013 05:10 PM

the copper head is sensorless. With the new VTX8, I think a few people will convert from tekin.

Rockthecatbox21 01-07-2013 05:10 PM

I want to run the vtx8, but the sensored only part makes me nervous. In the blue moon event that my sensor wire does come, i'd like to not be dead in the water. Any way ya'll could make a sensored/sensorless version of the vtx8?

tony montana 01-07-2013 05:14 PM

dont worry about the copperhead being sensor less. To me it felt like it was sensored

Yea, I looking forward to getting mine. I'll be the first of out track to use one. I like the price and what I have read about them so far.

I wonder if sensor wires fall out of the RX8 - because I find it interesting we have received so many questions and comments about sensor wires.

No driver testing a VTX8 (including me in both 1/8 and 4wd SC) has ever reported a sensor wire coming out.

Even is you are were worried about it coming out, as long as you choose a wire with enough slack, it couldn't pull out unless it gets caught on something in a really crazy crash or something.

I recommend the Black Edition for everything 10th (VTX8 for 4wd SCT). The reg version is fine for 2wd buggy, truck, and SCT. The 'R' is where you want to be if you run 4wd or Touring or anything under a 6.5T (VTX1 for 1/12).

Just from talking to the guys who have run both the reg (orange) and the BE, the biggest difference is the brakes. The general consensus is the BE has better brakes. Since I never ran the reg version, I can't say for sure.

So I would use this setup for your 2 vehicles
2wd Mod - VTX10 B.E. with VST 8.5T motor
4wd Mod - VTX10R B.E. with VST 6.5T motor

Im curious myself about the black edition. Is there more differences than just the brakes ?

Never had a sensor wire come out of an RX8 in 3 years I ran em.

Wildcat1971 01-07-2013 07:23 PM

they normally fail, not fall out.

+1000000000000

I ran the copperhead when it first came out in my SCTE its just as fast as any other manufacturers high end system. To me it was much more aggressive which was great for 4 wheel sct, locals were amazed to see what was under the hood back in the pits .

Thing is, even if it does fall out on an rx8 or hobbywing, the esc automatically switches to sensorless. Is it possible to release a software version that makes the esc run sensorless as well, or is it only able to run sensored no matter what firmware/software changes you make? <-------that question sounds stupid i know. :p
