Once I changed to NORM in the radio I have had 0 issues. I dont think it was the speedo/receiver/servo issue more like a radio/receiver issue.

I am running a V10 red version and 8.5t motor.

I will post my settings up soon.

I have had the same issue with my 4PKS ..when i plug it in it sometimes glitch and always when i was back to back and had someone Plugging in my cars while on the stand and the thing i was noticing was it happens more near the loop at 2 different tracks ..... last Saturday i plugged in on my bench then took my car to the track and only had the issue once ....

I will try that norm setting then i wont have that issue anymore...

on the viper note ....Love it LOL .... A55 is the cats meow .....17.5 boosted in a sct ....Iam 3 for 3 on TQ and wins in the 17.5 sct class at the local series in Bellingham WA Mikes RC world ..we getting on a Avg 150 entry's

I run viper in all my electric cars ......

That sucks!!! Radio problems are never fun and they are hard to notice. Sorry about your luck but good run nonetheless :batman:

Recently I was running some club racing and was having some issues with the car being twitchy, almost "hyper". Stuffer springs, roll center, etc... nothing helped.

Turned out I my steering expo got turned up to 100% lol

On two of my heats, when it came off the track the top 3 lights were blinking yellow and the ESC wouldn't turn off using the button, I had to unplug. On those runs, the transponder also missed laps. Is there a guide to error codes for this ESC or can anyone help on what happened?

Hey Brad, sorry you had issues. I hate when stuff like that happens. We'll help you get to the bottom of this.

I don't have the manual here with me, but I believe that there is a listing of 'error codes' in it. I will dig mine out tonight and see if I can find yours unless someone else chimes in first.

Edit:
Found the manual online here --> http://www.viper-rc.com/pclink/updat...manual_A55.pdf

I don't see your error code though so I think we need to get one of the other guys to assist. Here is what it shows in the manual

Motor Temperature Cut Off:
Parameters from 160 Degrees to 270 Degrees (10 degrees incremental).
Motor temperature cut activation is indicated by blinking “F” and “R” LEDs.

ESC Temperature Cut Off:
Parameters from 160 Degrees to 270 Degrees (10 degrees incremental).
ESC temperature cut activation is indicated by blinking “F” and “R” LEDs with solid “N” LED.

Brad, what kind of car and motor were you running. That is pretty strange - we don't have 3 yellow lights on the VPort - did you mean all three lights were blinking?

Can you tell us what your battery cut off, esc temp cut off, and motor temp cut off were set at?

naffer 12-04-2012 10:21 PM

ya, for me the 3 blinking lights has always been the temp cutoff warning. i would recommend that you get a temp gun and adjust your gearing and motor power settings. you dont want overheat the motor too much.

nikos2002 12-05-2012 07:48 AM

naffer- I tend to agree. One thing I have seen especially with the top guys at big events - where you push the envelope a little. You can be right on the edge with the temps and when you come around after the race and stop, and that air stops flowing through the car - that little extra temp build up can trip the cut off. So knowing the settings, etc can help confirm it.

if the viper systems glitch with the futaba radios then I might consider
another brand of speed control with the Viper motor. All I have is Futaba.

I don't believe the Issue was because of the Viper esc. I think the issues you read about were a settings issue on the 4pks. Once they switched the response to "NORM" all issues went away for both.

nikos2002 12-05-2012 11:44 AM

There are no issues with our systems and any radio company. I have used Futaba for two years (pretty sure Dave does as well), Spektrum before that. Josh uses KO, Eric uses Radiopost, Travis runs Airtronics. So there are no compatibility issues.

Ditto. Running Futaba exclusively with two VTX10s with out issue. One on A30 software and one on A55 software. Couldn't be happier with the Viper ESCs.

Actually there have been some issues with the 614FF and 614FS receivers when running indoors in the faster modes. Experienced this at the Spektrum race in Milwaukee. Many drivers running those receivers would experience "glitch" type problems (some had weird throttle responses, some had steering issues). Switching over to 603 receivers and / or to the "NORM" mode resolved the issues.

Experienced by many with all sorts of different combinations, including Chad Due (4pk Super, LRP Speedos, Futaba Servo), myself (4pk, Viper, Savox), etc....

The Futaba team over night-ed us some new 614FF receivers, still had the same issues. In the faster modes at least. I ended up running my 603 receiver and was fine. Like I said, some people just switched to NORM mode and were OK also.

However it IS NOT a Viper issue, it was happening amongst 15 people with every known combination of equipment. Wasn't isolated to anything other than 614 receivers.

Looking to run a Viper ESC in my Xray T4 for 17.5 stock and 21.5 stock (both blinky)...but I also want to have flexibility with tuning for non stock races if I choose...what do you suggest? Thanks
