Justin,
You can fill out an RMA form and on the Viper homepage and send the motor in to be evaluated. That is best course of action. The RMA form on the Warranty page will walk you through the process. PM if you want more details, or have any questions about the process. Its too hard to guess why something like that could have happen without seeing the unit. Nick |

tschenck - glad you like it -- get John and Mark to order more!!! Couple things to check: Make sure motor cut off temp is set accurate - should be up about 220 or higher. Some of the older software problem from the factory defaulted at 160, which internally is not very much.
There was some close racing in SC today but I did manage to take the TQ and the win. :D |

In an attempt to be "Pro-Active" vs. being "Re-Active", Viper has setup an exchange program on the first run VX4 motors to insure that the best possible solution is available to the customer. Our goal is to ensure that all new VX4/VX4R production will meet the quality commitment and make sure that all customers will enjoy the product without worries.
It has been discovered that there is a problem with the attachment of the magnet to the rotor shaft, and the problem arose in the transition from R&D (motors built by the design engineers) to production (motors being built by production staff). It is a training issue where the magnet may be damaged during installation. Extensive testing and R&D was done on the development of the VX4 motors and the Copperhead Speed Controls to ensure the utmost reliability and performance from the system. And though the problem with the magnet on the rotor lies in a very small number of units when compared to the number of units that are working just fine, Viper is going to institute an exchange program to insure that the end user ends up with what they deserve. Steps have been taken to ensure there will not be any future problems with the use of a new fixture in the assembly process, and Viper is going to load and dyno every motor that comes off the line. The failure will come very early on if the magnet is damaged, and will show up in the first few moments once in use on the dyno. If you have a VX4 or VX4R motor and believe you are having a problem with it, please begin the exchange process by: 1. Please visit Viper RMA system on the web site and fill up your detailed information and press enter. Viper RMA Form 2. Contact Viper tech support at [email protected] with your RMA number and a copy of your original invoice (scanned image or detailed photo) for your Copperhead system. 3. You do not need to send back the motor. We will send you the replacement as soon as we verify your shipping address with original proof of purchase. 4. The Program will run until March 31st, 2012. Every qualified case will receive a brand new VX4 or VX4R motor as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Viper will send you a ProGauge with free of charge as compensation of this matter. Again, we sincerely apologize for this problem, and hope to get all customers back to the track with good products soon! More information can be found on the Viper Facebook page Facebook My brother filled out the Rma form last sunday and mailed a copy of the invoice, have not heard anything from Viper. Just want to know if it takes a long time before they reply? |
viper vtx10r blinking f and r led fault code
Does anyone know where I can find the fault codes at? I have no power forward or reverse and the esc just flashes F and R when I give it throttle and goes back to green N when I left off.
|
ps71- how did you mail in the receipt? They will contact you after they receive it. PM me your info and I will have them look for it.
moto- when you pull the trigger the light turns to N? Sounds like calibration isn't right. Was it working properly and now it's not? can you tell us what changes were made before it stopped working! |
Used the receipt from amain hobbies in the mail.
It has the ordernr and date, so i assumed that was ok. |

At my local track we run 13.5 (super stock) for short course. I've been previously running no timing and struggling to keep up. Most of the guys run boosted/timed Tekin setups. No timing was ok for my skill level until this most recent track change.
The triple on the right side of the screen, I can't make it. The tekin boys will over shoot it most of the time. I will case most of the time. I had a couple of guys drive my truck and they felt it was down on power. My most current setup.... AE SC10 with 81/22 gearing A19..... I need to order the link cord so I can update Profile #3 Throttle: PWM 9600 Punch 100% Motor power: Acceleration boost start 3000rpm finish 15000rpm Max timing 30° top speed timing Slew 10°/100rpm max 35° The motor can is at the stock setting of 30° This is my 1st real timing ESC so I'm kind of lost on how to make this 13.5 fast. I'm sure I'm doing it all wrong other then my temps are good  I found that I could not make any change to build the power i though I should. I lowered gearing with minimal temperature changes. I raised and lowered timing and found I could change the temperatures but not the power. After a heat I noticed that my truck have very little drag (motor off cog) that lead me to think the rotor demagnetized. All at one time I installed A30 firmware and a new rotor in my motor. I did lower the gearing to 20/81. I found with the installed program 3 setting minus top speed timing I had my loss of power back and lower temperatures. I now come off in the 120° range and can overshoot the triple. My fastest lap improved but total race did not as I need to learn to dive a truck with more power smoothly. So, if you start getting a weak motor with higher then normal heat check you motor drag after a run. If it has no drag you might want to replace the rotor. |
Everything was working in the first heat. Plugged in new lipo for the second heat with no changes at all. turned on esc as usual, esc flashed and went green, then when i pulled the throttle it did nothing, then it flashed F and R. so i put the throttle in neutral and the esc went blank then green. when i tried brake it went flashing F and R. so i let off and again it went blank then green.
Hope this helps. |
any plans on offering a VTX1 without a progauge? i have a progauge from my VTX10, but im looking at setting up an F1 car
