just bought my first viper setup, can wait to give it a try. Figured a guy cant go wrong at $150 for a sensorless 550 setup. Should work well in my 4x SC. :tire:

It was OK and I'm still running one but it was not up to par with others so viper is making a better one

can the copperhead esc runs a sensored motor like the vst motors?
how does the copperhead-r compares with the vtx10 then?

Copperhead is a un-sensored ESC

VTX10 and VTX10R are both sensored ESC's

any one have a good starting point for gearing for TEN SCTE with R51?

nikos2002 02-06-2012 08:29 PM

Think about starting with a 12-13 and go from there depending on motor temps and track length.

can the copperhead esc be paired with sensored motors like the vst or pro4s?

No, the copperhead is for running unsensored motors only...

WideOpenThrottle RC 02-07-2012 06:39 AM

For those of you inquiring about running sensored motors on the copperhead I encourage you to try the copperhead combo first. I previously ran the Teking Pro 4600 and after installing the copperhead combo in my SCTE I sold the tekin stuff. Not saying Tekin was bad but for half the price the copperhead system is just as competitive in my opinion. Once it's on the track you cant even tell its a unsensored system so I would try it before worrying about having a sensored setup.

Thanks for the good words WideOpen. Some people talked about the delay from when we announced Copperhead to when it was released. And that was one of things we wanted to be right. A sensorless system to have the feel of a sensored system. Its worth a try.

I have been running the 540/3900kv system in my XXX-SCT and have not had a single "delay" or cog issue at all.

Decided I want to give the new copperhead setups a try. I would like to put a combo in my Slash. I am running the RCE LCG chassis with proline shocks. Which combo would you guys recommend? I am using this truck mainly on an indoor course but could end up on some larger outdoor courses as the weather gets warmer so I wanted to have my options open.

So, Should I go with the 540 motor, or one of the two 550 motors??? Thoughts?

If it is 2wd you are going to be pretty much forced into the 3900kv 540 system. Pretty much everywhere you race 2wd will be limited to 540 motors. That and the 3900 is PLENTY strong about on par with a 7.5 motor.

The 550s would really offset the weight bias to the left side of the car allot and be way too much motor to hook up in a 2wd truck.

The Copperhead 3900 combo is perfect for the 2wd slash. It will have all the power you can use plus some in reserve. Don't be afraid to use the Progauge. Its a great tool trackside to dial in your setup and its really easy to use.

RC Racer 1 02-07-2012 10:40 AM

Oops, should have specified... It's a slash 4x4.
