I'm actually going to throw on the setup for the viper 8.5 setup just above and start from there..
It feels like my throttle ramps out mid way. Can't seem to get it:sweat: STOCK profile 2 setup, changes- brake-65%,pwm-8000, drag brake- 25% throttle freq- 9600 |

I notice that the viper blurb about the VTX10 says "6.5 turn in 2wd applications".
Does this means a 6.5T in a 4wd buggy is not recommended and may blow something up? What is the motor limit for 4wd buggies? It might work, or it might not. Just not recommended. The 10R is really the best ESC for Mod4 |

4wd Mod buggy has (1) more drag and (2) the motor gets no air.

whoops--wrong thread!

Can someone describe the variables that determine braking power? I had an RS in my 22, usually running a Tekin 17.5T in blinky but sometimes an Orion 13.5T. The buggy will pretty much stop on a dime if I apply full braking. I used the expo setting on my radio to tune down braking response.
But my stadium truck will come to a rolling rather than a halting stop. It brakes fine when I'm running so long as I crank up the brake strength. The ESC in the ST is an Orion R10 and I've been running either a Revtech 10.5T or the Orion 13.5T mentioned above. Clearly there are a lot of variables here. The obvious one is the size/weight of the stadium truck vs the buggy. I've also read that lower turn motors may have less braking power, but so far I've not felt much of a difference in swapping motors around. What I haven't done is switch the ESC between cars--would that likely make a big difference? And if so, why? Braking is actually allot harder on the ESC than running the motor, because you apply a current to the winding to slow it down. What you end up with is a big alternator and the motor is making more power than the ESC can use at that point, so it has to absorb it. That is why there are capacitors on there to help absorb this energy. |
With the outdoor season upon us in the northern country, I am looking for the fan kit for the VTX10 and VTX10R. Probably the same fan. Looked on the website and didn't see anything but some help would be great. Thanks

silvalis - with the VTX10 we don't recommend going that low with a 4wd. The VTX10R is designed to handle lower turn motors. I have run a 7.5 with the VTX10 in a 4wd during our development of the product. But if you are using a lower turn, the VTX10R will handle it better long term. . |

Thank for the input. The VTX10R is already getting hot after just a few minutes on our indoor track. I can only imagine the temp climb I will have to deal with on the outdoor track since the ambient temp will already be 40-50 warmer. So, what do you recommend? Anybody?

We would need to know more, like car, track conditions, motor, gearing, ESC settings, etc......
