I would say your best bet is to contact Traxxas customer support http://traxxas.com/support/Traxxas-Warranty-Service

I ran everything from an 8.00 to 7.25. 7.50 or higher it started getting much warmer and got worse on power. I tried changing timing along with the gearing and never got to a zone where it started improving. I finally settled for a 7.92 and just left it there. I did a lot of reading last spring before i went with the viper and the general thinking was to gear it up a couple teeth due to the lower kv rating. Tried that and had no luck. I looked into the batterys and thought that may have been part of it. I was running a genace 4800 25c saddle pack. Last month I picked up a couple losi shorty packs and took it to omaha for the novak race. my driving sucked due to lack of practice down there but the lack of power became real apparent. The back stretch has a set of doubles followed by a table top leading into another set of doubles. The only way i could clear the second set of doubles was to downside the table top PERFECTLY and even then it was only about half the time. I fought with that for 2 rounds and pulled the tekin 17.5 out of my buggy and put it in for the third round. The difference between the two was unreal. Real close to boosted and non boosted. The second set much easier to clear and the speed down the straits was noticably better.
So my question is simply what am I supposed to do with the viper? I dont think gearing it higher yet will make it better as the performance just dropped off the more i geared it up.

1st test run with the VTX10R/6.5T in the B44.1
and sweet god it is fast
Started at 20/81 motor temp got to about 160. dropped the pinion to 19T motor temp at 130 ESC at about 110
I might try a 18/81 and see where the temps go. The track is very small so the gearing won't really hurt it but this thing is fast
One more viper system to get and all 3 trucks will be Viper RC powered

Any of you guys put bullet connectors on the 3 orange wires from the ESC to the motor for quick removal? I was thinking of just cutting the orange wires and soldering in some bullets.
Any thoughts as to why this would be BAD? If not I'm going to doit!

Should be ok. Just use connectors rated to match that of the wire being used.

why quick removal? When would you need a quick removal? Idk if you do, soldering iron heats in 2 min. lol. They can come apart during the race. I had a esc that would always do that.=crap when your driving.

Just installed a VTX10 and a VST 10.5 in my truck. Properly calibrated it, but I am not getting any power to the motor. The lights are indicating forward and reverse, but no power. Anyone have any ideas on where to go from here? Not sure if there is something simple, or if I need to ship the esc to viper...
Thanks in advance.
