Tamiya Championship Series

At the risk of sounding like a kissass, it dawned on me that Tamiya of late has been very responsive to the wishes of the TCS racers. The rules package that was run at the Nats seems to me to be the results of what is posted here combined with the current state of tech in the hobby. I would go as far to say that Tamiya is on the leading edge of technology at least in the 2 GT classes. Lets face it, the rules will never be to everyones liking, and there will always be those out there that deem it necessary to bend the rules to win. Also I would love to get a lesson on a chassis that exhibits little to no scrub in the corners. That seems to be the missing piece to my puzzle.

I'll try any format. It's all fun in the end!

The racing format as we know it is well thought out and servers a purpose well. It begs the question as to why should it be changed and how to change the format to meet that goal(s).
For the sake of discussion the only reasons to change it would be:
The technology has changed
To more accurately determine the better driver/fastest car
To make it more fun
Working in reverse order:
To make it more fun I would like to see more competitive runs. Qualifying is all good to shake out the bugs and find out who runs with whom in what main, but I would love to see at least one more scored run at the cost of a qualifier. This is especially true if you end up in the B+ main.
Generally speaking, more than 95% of the time the TQ is the class winner. By the end of 2 qualifiers you have sorted out the A, B, and C, mains, and have a fairly accurate picture of who will be the podium potential drivers. With three qualifying runs to sort out your car the fourth is kind of going through the motions. With Lipo and BL the technology has changed. It opens up the possibility to change up the format to make it more fun as racers are no longer pit slaves.
Putting the high battery demand GT1 class aside, the technology exists for longer runs or to run 2 mains back to back. If you reduce the runs to 4 minutes and run them back to back you get more driver stand time without the hassle. No second trip through tech, no waiting for the straggler to find his fourth body pin, just grid them up according to the last finishing order and go at the tone. It may even be possible to do this twice on race day, but the important thing is to get more drive time. The 5 min. main is run after each class has its 2 back to back heats at the end of the day. I would also like to see a spot left in the last A main for a bump up from a B main.

Since the number was to break the tie for 1st I allowed the 3rd places to stand (unlike the Olympics). Since Dragracer72nova picked Marty and he bailed on GT1, I picked the last spot which was 24 for GT1.
Other than that, thanks to all who participated and have a pleasant tomorrow.
