could someone please refresh my memory, what is the differences between the conical and non conical headers?

is it true that the conical headers offer better bottom end?..or am i wrong? cheers

Conical provide more power, less runtime. Whereas non-conical does the opposite (slightly less power, but longer runtime)

Hi,

Recently purchased and run-in a 35+21 (steel bearings).

Currently matching it with nova 2015 + 6-fin manifold.

Power is decent at best, but run time is approximately only 4 minutes.

Does anyone have any recommendation for pipe/manifold combination for a large track that offers decent run time (say approximately 4:45?)

Thank you in advance.

Sam

Could also try to adjust your clutch and/or driving style? (not trying to shoot you down, honestly)

haha.. No worries :) That could be a major contributing factor. Will experiment and see what the results are.

You should go to P.J. http://www.radicalrchobbies.com.au/p...ce-engine.html for great price of a Nova engine. You also get the best possible backup assistance, cheap postage and next day delivery to Sydney.

Kindest regards,
Lars.

Hi guys! Is it advisable to reduce the shimming of button head for my flash in order to gain rpm? And will there be changes in bottom power?

no don't do this, leave the shims stock. Reducing the shims will decrease the squish band and lead to the plug breaking and pitting your head button and piston.

if you want more RPM you can dremel the top edge of the exhaust port just a fraction, i think adding shims will increase RPM, but i'm not 100% sure about this.

i wouldn't be too concerned with RPM, it isn't a measure of power so to say, torque is a better attribute to have as it allows you to gear for top end, whilst still having punch out of the corners.

Turque is an atribute of a lot of factors, so it isn't as easy as a shim here or there. I've fooled around with raising the sleeve height...but i have no idea what this does:lol:

a shorter manifold will give you more rpm

Don't reduce the shimming, it would only cause problems instead of solving any. Adding .1mm usually moves the power up, but it isn't guaranteed, plus you would lose some bottom end power as well.
A shorter manifold should give you more RPM, at the cost of losing some bottom end power. A different pipe could also make it better all round.
Carefully dremelling the exhaust port to make it open for longer can do the same thing as a shorter manifold, but this is a permanent modification and you could possibly ruin the engine if it isn't done correctly or carefully
You could also go a little leaner (if there is room for it) to get more engine speed, or you could change plugs to one slightly colder, but this would lose a little off the bottom end, and could also make it hard to idle nicely.

It's a lot of trade-off's to get more top-end, otherwise there's isn't a great lot to do.
