you cannot replace the bearing as its the case that is too big, not the bearing being too small. Also the V1 engine had O-rings in the carb that were too small. If I were you I would not even run it until you get the V2 case and O-rings

New second hand, never ran, not from a dealer. Found out it's V2, so all good.

The new case says "Arrow Power" around the front crank bearing.

The case was changed a few months back due to the front bearing coming out really easy. If you take the engine apart, and you pull the crank out and stick a wrench in the case and hit the front bearing it will fall out.

The bad thing with this is air leaks and fuel leaks from the front bearing. Also it does not seem to have the power of a sealed engine. You can replace the bearing, or get the new case from Hobby Pro and put all the parts you have one the new case.

Are they replacing the case for free?

If you bought it at Hobby Pro USA or one of our official dealers, then yes. Shoot us an email sales @hobbyprousa.com.

what are you guys running for pipe on this engine for good power and run time?

Jaz240 12-13-2011 08:23 AM

From the research I did the best pipe is Nova 9901. After that the OS 2050 or Losi RE-11 (may be the RE-10 I forget) or the OS 2060 or other Losi pipe.
One of the local racers went 12 minutes in buggy with the Nova 9901 pipe and from what I saw there were no dead spots in the band

If it's a VZB clone why does a Nova pipe work best? Seems a 2050/2060 would be the perfect match

James, do you have this engine?

I'm not sure, but a close friend did some pipe testing and settled on the 9901. I saw it in action and I saw him run his buggy 12 minutes until dry. There was excellent power everywhere he needed it and this was a very large 8 scale track.

Yes I do but have not run it yet. It is in my pit box waiting on break in. I have a few good working engines so I decided not to rush into getting this one all dirty. Over the last year I have sold about 40 of these engines. Some local, but most shipped. I have gotten all kinds of feedback, from the worst engine ever, to the best thing since sliced bread. The first few batches had the bad cases and carbs, so there was lots of grumbling at that time because IMO the engine was crap. How can any engine be good if you cant tune it and the bearings are spinning in the crankcase? Once the issues were resolved ( about 6 Months ago) This engine has been getting nothing but raves from everyone I have sold it to and also everyone who is using it. If you look around there are a few PRO drivers running this engine. Thats not something you would see unless they can perform with the best of them. I am looking forward to running it and I will be using the nova 9901 pipe with the half moon header, but I dont like to store perfect running engines so I'm waiting till I have a need for it.

For run time, use an OS 2060, Nova 9901, or Losi RE-12. I am sure there are others, but I have heard good things from Arrow drivers on all 3 of these pipes.
