i run the 2060 on mines with 8.0 restrictor and getting 8-9 minutes with smooth powerband.

stevolicious 09-11-2011 03:58 AM

I ran the 2050 pipe today and it sucked  I had a spare GO pipe (2072, I think) in my bag and it really opened up. I was getting about 8 mins but could have pushed for 9. I had a 8mm restrictor ninja carb and ninja crank shaft . It was heaps easier to dial with the better carb and never missed a beat. The power was on tap (so much when i gave it a full throttle in a hurry it would spin around )

Here is a different question.

Is there a better exhaust basket out there? I have used the TKS gaskets from LHS and they seem to be very soft maybe too soft. Any feed back?

I run these from VP Pro, lasts me a couple gallons before I change out and they are pretty cheap.

So, funny thing. I originally started this thread but never used the motor until the last two weeks (races). I have the newer designed engine case one now. I tried a Werks 2013, had a weird power band with it more mid to top, just felt weak, ran an Alpha 0801 HC and was pretty good, but I then I tried the Werks 2058 and it sang. This thing turned into a rocket. Going to be running it this weekend at the GA RC Pro Series. I will report back how it goes.

There is no need for a different carb if you have the new arrow carb o-rings that are larger then the previous ones. They seal better and tune very well like an OS carb does.

just ran this engine for the first time last weekend and it ran awesome the whole weekend very happy and comfident with this engine. I ran it with 7mm venturi and ae 2035 pipe got 8mins runtime, the engine isnt even close to broke in and it was running really fat so i was impressed with that, also has anyone done any testing on this engine with different pipes, maybe you guys can save me the trouble, what have you found works best?

roblupo 09-21-2011 08:29 PM

Losi RE 12, its cheap, looks awesome and runs perfect with this engine.

gofast072 10-01-2011 08:47 PM

has anyone tested a jp3 or jp4 pipe im looking for bottom end and as much runtime as i can get, i like the low end i have with the 2035 but would like more runtime if i can get it, which losi pipe will produce the most runtime and low end

I saw on eBay a p/s/r set for vspecs, ninjas and speeds. It was 99$ and he said it was oem part. I was skeptical but bought it any knowing at the least it was a knockoff from this engine or another spec copy. So I have it today and want to make sure. I will describe the rod as having the same oil hole, without as big of a knife edge, but thet have a strip milled out in the middle of both sides.

The piston has a speckled appearance (this is the only way I can describe it), almost like it has a coating. The rear exhaust port is symmetrical without the flares up top but maybe bigger over all. And the fit is extremely tight. I hope my starter box will turn it over. Even hot it looks to be a pitta. I am dropping this in a ninja or spec case (haven't decided)

Does this sound right? Also have a ebmods head button. Can I use it? Have re10,re11, 086, 2013, 2058. Also have some L headers.

chances are the speckled piston means it is a cast piston... look on the underside of the piston and see if it looks machined or cast...

dreaux 10-05-2011 01:15 PM

It is without a doubt cast. It's ugly under there, but there is a good bit less matierial. Pretty sure it's lighter.

Never had a cast piston before:lol:
