Arrow Racing GTR .21 Engine Thread

I just received one yesterday. I will be taking some pics later this morning to post. I will be breaking it in on Thursday. First impression: looks super quality from the outside (have yet to tear it down), feels super light and cuts are clean.

Yee! Ha! Yet another offering from the Taiwanese
r/c engine tsunami.
I found some info about it on their website.
The 9mm, three needle, carb looks interesting.
Here is a link to their website,

I still haven't fully broke in this motor yet. Weather is crappy here and when I had an opportunity I was racing with my other motors. I hope to have some data on this soon for you guys.

Taiwanese OS v-spec. Too bad Taiwan couldn't do their own R&D for a change, but it should still be a good engine.;)

I thought the Argus was the taiwanese V-spec copy  But that one turned out to be 5 ports. Im confused with all these brands and "designs" popping up every other day. They've all got be related back to the same factory, just different names

Na, Argus is basically Alpha. I agree though all these "new" brands popping up everywhere gets confusing.:weird:

porkchop 01-25-2011 10:21 PM

i saw one run this weekend did not look to bad he even had a extra piston sleave and rod i mic up it a vspec clone

actually, arrow is a new company. They are not affiliated with any of the other Taiwanese manufacturers (Go, Force, Alpha/Argus).

Will be interested to see how this engine fares.

Kinda looks like that new BP Engine at Amain

rageworks 02-13-2011 08:36 AM

Did you have a hard time getting the rod out? I couldn't get it out which I why I didn't have any internal pics. Also, note the cut on the exhaust port on the case. Pretty trick.

keithw11 02-13-2011 08:43 AM

yes just like os v spec/speeds

keithw11 02-13-2011 08:51 AM

yes it was tight and so was crank it was snug tight tolerances and the exhaust port was matched very nice

keithw11 02-13-2011 08:53 AM

i have both os pipes and plan to start there so as soon as i get this thing broke in i will post i really think this motor will rock

keithw11 02-17-2011 10:10 AM

well we have been having a great break in the weather 60+ so got the motor all broke in its very very tight and plus 3 tanks at rich and then i started tuning on it with a os 2060 and od97t plug all i can say is wow the motor rips and i belive 10+ run time and the nuts havent even droped i dont think any body will be diapointed in this motor i have a big races in dallas in a week so i will post and let you guys know how that went

Arrow Engine

Just ordered my first Arrow GTR .21 Engine today. Cant wait!!!

J.Whiting 02-28-2011 08:47 PM

i put a p/r/s in a speed case.. at 98 bucks for p/r/s compared to 169.00 for sleeve and piston and 47 for the rod from os.. 98 bucks looks a lot better in the pocket book... all the specs are the same as a v-spec... the case and back plate are a tade different but ALL the other pieces are the EXACT same as a v-spec..... jeremy

ps.. answer-rc has all the parts and motors in stock... talk to mike for questions

keithw11 03-01-2011 05:13 AM

well motor ran great this weekend never got above 230 all weekend ran a 2060 with it got 12+ runtime no joke i won and tqed both int buggy and truggy at the ice breaker this weeken in texas 150 total racers 35 int buggys and 20 truggys i won 625 bones:)

so i have around 1 1/2 to 2 gallons on this motor and you still cant roll bye hand this thing has just preformed flawlessly

PowerHouse 03-01-2011 07:45 AM

Talked with Mike at Motorama and brought one home to play with. I should have porting and performance results for you guys soon. It is laid out very close to the V-spec as most have mentioned and it should run awesome with some race porting. The stock ones looked really good at motorama so I am very interested in seeing what I can come up with for them. I am also interested in seeing how the new hardened crank works out. If it has a nice wear to it and if the carb is decent, it should be a very nice engine for the money. I will keep you guys posted!

Hello Guys, here are some pics of my car with the GTR engine...

http://jq-products.smugmug.com/JQ-Pr...7_WQQGX-XL.jpg

I have almost 2 gallons through the engine,it is great so far, zero flameouts, easy to tune,i would say it has more power than the standard Vspec and just a bit less than the speed, quality of the parts is actually great,so i would say it is a really good engine,overall...

Herrsavage 03-01-2011 02:02 PM

That's a pretty sexy engine..

triplesix 03-03-2011 05:59 AM

A yery interesting engine, I have to admit.
Which pipes are you running/which are recommended?
Any words on fuel economy?

lee_double2000 03-07-2011 08:55 AM

.Well got my motor all mounted and in place for break in. Hopefully. Can start today:). I've heard all great news about this motor and I'm lookin forward to puttin it on the track.

I personaly run the OS 2060,or Alpha 2081,alpha pipe seems to have better low end power and more runtime, but i have to do a back to back test to have solid results,as far as runtime is concerned,I think 10mins is an easy target, using 7mm OS Speed restrictor and 25% Meccafuel.

BeefHead 03-09-2011 06:53 PM

Wow! I bet this thing will out last a real vpiece lol.I will have to try one of these.;)

to be honest,i just avoid saying things that may proove to be wrong, all I can say is that my GTR has more pinch than my Vspecs at the 3 gallons mark. All I could get out of my Vspecs was somewhere near 4+ gallons,so lets see what happens.. :-)

BeefHead 03-10-2011 01:11 PM

The truth will set you free!

BeefHead 03-20-2011 09:04 AM

Hey guys my brother is keithw11 and i got to drive his car with this engine yesterday and i mus say i was impressed to say the least. He has over 4 gal. threw this thing and it is running flawless no flameouts and runs nice and cool with plenty of power. I will be trying one out later this year.

Colt4g63 03-21-2011 05:00 PM

I've been contacted by the company and will see what they have to offer. Depending i may have some actual X-Dyno results and a write up on what i find through some extensive testing. :tire:

I think you will find it pretty muck runs like vspec lol. I will be looking forward to your thoughts on this engine.;)

Colt4g63 03-22-2011 07:10 PM

Well got a reply and they will be sending me an engine to test. So look for some test results sometime in the future here. I have high hopes for this engine. If it is what they claim it is "and at this time i have no reason to doubt them whatsoever" it should be a very nice and long lasting engine. An engine that performs like or even better then a Vspec, that doesn't wear out a crank pin in 3 gallons time would be one potent racing mill! :tire:

I'm sure it would be but at the end of the day it is what it is which is a complete rip off of an engine that was designed and made by OS. With you being in the industry and having worked hard to develop your own dyno and in a sense legitimize the product that you have made in the mags as well as the service that you offer I'm a little surprised and I think disappointed that you would want to associate your self and your company name with a company that operates in that manner. Just my $0.02 for what it is worth.

I hope to hear that the Tiawanese engines have crankshafts
that will last longer than the now discontinued O.S. V-Spec
engines Adam. The crankshaft in my AB Mods JX Ninja engine
is still in great shape, after many gallons of fuel. Still, it would
be nice to know that there is a better one to replace it with
when the time comes.
Oh yea, no disappointment here. That's just my $0.02 about
it.
