Bad news - The Arrow GTR-21 has been discontinued and we are now sold out. The good news is they have released an all new engine that will be available next week - the Arrow GTR-II Plus!

I do not have all the details yet, but the new GTR-II will come with the DLC Coated crankshaft and is a 5 port engine for more bottom end power like the old discontinued Mugen Ninja JX-21 BO1a. It should now not only have insane top end, but also have the torque that is required for Truggies. :)

This will be the first engine for under $200 to come with a DLC crankshaft.

wait...what? 8 days ago they released a version 4 engine with a new cooling head and then discontinued it and replaced it with a whole new engine?
Its impossible to keep up with these guys :D
Looking forward to hearing feedback on the new model. The original was a very good seller.

CHOAS 01-14-2013 05:51 PM

What color is the head on the new one?

CHOAS 01-14-2013 05:54 PM

Has the crankcase been beefed up around the motor mounting area? Had a V2 develop a crack there. Otherwise, motor runs great. 5 port should be very nice with DLC coated crank.

Yes that is why the V4 Purple head was a Limited Edition.
It was just the remaining V3 parts they had in stock with the new DLC Plus crank. We are getting a few more of those in (all that was left), and the new GTR-II Plus 5-port.

I have not seen it yet so I can't answer all the questions, but from the picture it looks like a new head but the same case and carb.

The mid range must be 2 turns out from flush at 2 oclock.
Low speed 1-2 turns in from flush
top end 1.5-2.5 turns out from all the way in.

It has a new LCG cooling head and button to match. It is 1 fin lower and has 1 more fin covering the case. The top 2 fins have been beefed up.

The case and 3-needle carb are the same. It has the same con rod with oiling hole and the V4 DLC short stroke crankshaft.

Does this apply for the new 5 port Arrow? I knew some guys were saying the base needles were off from the factory making it hard to keep running during break in. also how are these carbs holding up? I know they were a issue in the past. some guys using OS and Nova carbs on them. are they good to go now? trying to decide on running Arrow, Nova P5, or Maxi Cinco this year.

Thanks

Yes the needles are set correctly on the new engine also. The carb is good when the mid range is set right.

Just got back from the midwest championships, once the engine finally got broke in it tuned and ran like a champ.I was qualified in the b-main pro buggy. My pit stratagy for the 25 min main was to pit twice.Started the main and the engine was running good i was giving it all it had but came up 15 seconds short from making my first pit stop, after an 80 second lap there was no hope of taking the bump spot but went on to finish the race in 7th position.Very happy with the performance of the engine and it tuned great once broken in.Turned my fastest lap of the weekend of a 22.8,fastest lap i saw in the A main race was a 22.4 so the engine is a contender.
