Here's the deal I have a gtr 3port modded and I have not ran or broken the motor in yet. I also have the same motor not modded but I am currently running it in my zo1B. My ?s r has any one ran one of these modded? And if so how does it run? How did u break it in? What restrictor is being used? And what chassis is it ran on trug or bug? I plan on breaking in the modded one in very soon and I would like some input please.

Got one on the way just now, I will post results when I get them. I have had good results with the VP-Pro RS-1 and RS-4 pipes with this motor so far.

Great engine

brendon.matt 06-30-2013 05:20 PM

i recently got one of these engines the other day taht had basically only had the break indone. currently its only had about 3 litres on it. it seems i have the V1 carby on it tho because i cant get it to "rich bog". i have the top and bottom needles almost flush and the engine is still lean.

what other carbies can i put on this? preferably not the OS 21J cos it is worth more than i paid for the engine.

Set the mid range 2 turns out from flush pointing at 2 o'clock. Then the Arrow V1 and V2 carbs will run just like an OS and idle for days.

i have done this and then set the HSN and LSN so rich they are almost falling out and i still cannot get it to blow smoke, the engine is lean and if i put my fingers over the needles the engineblows shitloads of smoke and dies in 2-3 secs.

Sounds like bad orings on the needles....

VPProUSA 07-01-2013 07:04 AM

Yes, install a new o-ring kit. OS o-rings will also fit. Then put a drop of thread lock on all the needles so they do not vibrate loose.

I recently put the 3+2 sleeve, rod and piston set in a new arrow crankcase. I can get it to idle, but once I try giving it gas it dies. I have tryed every needle setting they all have the same effect. Any help? The motor bearings are all new same as clutch and clutch bell bearings. Anyone else put the 3+2 sleeve in? The sleeve barely sits flush in the case. And can't get to go any farther.

Check the shims and see how the compression is.

stallen50 07-01-2013 06:19 PM

The compression is tight. Because its new. The shims are how they come from the factory

I have no idea unless you put the sleeve in backwards. It ran fine in my old arrow GTR-21. The sleeve is supposed to sit above the case, same as with the 3 port sleeve.

stallen50 07-02-2013 06:30 PM

The slot in the sleeve is aligned with the pin in the front like it should. I was able to get to throttle up but still not running right. What is the factory needle settings again?
