I take the Brake in Shim out and Then Run a P3 Plug Has always worked well for me. Have one of these engines in my Truggy for almost 8 Months. It Rocks!

Anyone experiencing high temp with os2060 pipe, fuel economy was excellent. Guess i switch back to arrow 2103 pipe

looking to pick up one of these engines but don't know if to get the v4gtr or the gtr plus. i will be running it in a buggy, any advice greatly appriciated .

Gtr plus, more aggressive. Fuel consumption almost same? But more power = higher fuel consumption

furn1593 03-31-2015 09:24 PM

gtr plus orion 2013 at about the half gallon mark almost able to turn over by hand, p3 plug traxxas top fuel 20% getting 10min exactly.. couldn't be happier with this engine.

What are the factory carb settings? Having a hard time getting a good tune on this motor and want to start over needle wise.

swop77 06-13-2015 10:11 PM

I had a hard time tuning it till I found here that the mid needle should be out 2 turns from flush.
Low I usually start with flush high with 2 1/2 turns out from closed. Should be somewhere posted from vppro in this thread.

Well I figured out what my tuning issues were.

After taking apart the motor I found the case was cracked at the mounting tab, lengthwise. Small air leak causing it to run hot and stall out.

Probably just going to order a whole new motor. Get the Plus version this go around and order a new case later on as a backup.

Had that happen before, replaced it with a os case, it also cracked. After a while my motor was arrow / ninja / os Frankenstein. Still run it in a truggy after prob 8 gallons. The arrow gtr plus v4 is a strong little beast after two gallons in my buggy.

Do you still have the break-in shim installed?
