Thanks guys i might have to keep this motor in mind....

randystang 02-17-2012 11:58 AM

plug

has anyone run it with an odonnell97 plug, i am going to try to get through the heat cycles at least with one. and then switch to p3 if necessary!

stallen50 02-17-2012 12:45 PM

yes you can run it with od97t plugs. i would suggest you get a p3 plug. as they tune kind of hard with odonnell plugs unless you can get the hot plugs

OoD1S 02-17-2012 05:44 PM

run P3's with this engine and you will have no problems, Use breakin shim for about 1 to 1.5 gals and then take out and re tune.

Engine is fast even with break in shim in.

Enjoy

Can i use the os xzb con rod
In the arrow gtr?

pcage 02-20-2012 02:30 AM

I am afraid it doesn't fit. XZB is long stroke. Arrow is short stroke.

Yes, it'll work.

The stroke is determined by the crank. The rod is the identical length on VZ and XZ platforms. :tire:

Please disregard this message in it's entirety. I was mistaken.

So question is now, how do I get the updated Gen 2 case and o-rings?

I feel a bit cheated, the seller made sure to write "2011 version" but conveniently neglected to mention the flaws.

You would hope if it's a manufacturing defect that Arrow would cover it no matter where you purchased your new engine from.

The Gen 2 carb isn't a work of art either. Rc willpower on ebay auctions O.S.xzb carbs and they consistently go for about $25. Thats probably cheaper than replacing the o-rings and you have a much smoother carb. Hobby pro sells the new case. I think the problem with the gen 1 case was the loose bearings but not all of them had the problem. Check and see if you've got a bad one.

Edit. Hobby pro also has the o-rings and for only $7.99. Case w/o bearings is $62.39 and with bearings is $89.99
