after 1 gallon...
ok guys well I got about 1gal swallowed up by my Arrow. I ran it all weekend at the Rc Pro Series in St.Louis. weather was steadily changing from cold and rainy to hot and humid at the end of the week. track was med size(170X75), smooth and damp at first then slowly started to dry out and groove up. all i gotta say the engine worked superb,,,absolutely zero hiccups, no flame-outs, great smooth and clean power band, and would idle all day long if you let it;)
here's a few pics of the piston and sleeve after 1gal. I'm running a 6.5mm nova insert, )OS P3 plug, and VP-Pro RS-1 pipe and Byrons 30/11 fuel. I run a Agama buggy with stock clutch setup. I will be taking out the break-in shim and start race tuning it and monitoring my lap times now that its broken in. I'll keep you guys posted. http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w...0523112227.jpg http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w...0523112225.jpg http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w...0523112228.jpg |
Received one of these engines used in good condition. There's a shim in the box, is it safe to assume this is the 'break-in' shim?
The mechanical pinch is pretty much gone. Currently mated up with Pavidis 2050 pip...run times are around 8 min. Engine performs fantasic...using 8mm restrictor, going to try the 6.5mm & 70% WOT to see if run times improve. |

Yes thats the break in shim, but pull the head just to check how many shims are there. Because I didn't use the break in shim included just put one from my spare parts bin.

Thanks killerkustoms. What is the 'race tune' setup...1 thick and 1 thin shim?

there's a 2mm(silver) shim and 2(copper) 1mm shims. always keep the silver one and one of the copper ones in at all times. the extra copper one is for break-in. you can remove it after about a gallon.

Perfect...thanks Mark! The engine has one silver and one copper installed with another copper in the box. I guess the prior owner didnt install the break in shim. :(

Im only running 1 thin copper shim..
I did switch to the 2060 pipe and noticed my fuel economy increased. Im at about 9 1/2 to 10 minutes per tank now so Im happy... That was almost a 3 minute increase by simply switching the pipe..... Performance is still as smooth and crisp as with the 2050 though....:sneaky: |
